So I have just received my tablets from Thailand which was very quickly posted. However, just my luck Border Force decided to open the package and the bottle. Now I'm wary about taking them. Has anyone else had this happen to them?

I assume they were looking for specific drugs and not thyroid hormones.

I believe they have a duty not to permit 'happy' drugs to be delivered in the UK.

That's unfortunate. I have been lucky and it always comes straight through. The glass bottle the tablets are in is not sealed, is it? If it were me, I would assume the authorities were happy with the contents and sent it on its way, rather than it being tampered with.

This was my first time ordering from Thailand so its just typical that it happens to me! I'm already nervous about having to take anything other than Nature-throid which I've been on for the past 14 years. Oh well, not much I can do about it.

It will probably do you no good whatsoever, but I think I would at least register a complaint with Border Force.

As I see it, they should NOT open things where the seal might be important. (In this case, it might help protect the contents from humidity/moisture.)

Obviously, if they really thought it was an illegal drug, they might have to do so, but I suspect they could have been very sure without opening.

As its my first time ordering I don't know if the bottle had a seal on it or not. It doesn't look like there is any glue residue on the rim so maybe it didn't have a seal. The silica is still in the bottle so should help with moisture exposure but I am so p***d off that this happens especially when money is a real problem too. I will just have to hope for the best I suppose!

Nor do I know how they usually arrive.

I think it vanishingly unlikely that BF have swapped for fake pills!

My boxes came vacuumed sealed and glass bottles had no seal. I received them in august

Thanks for that. There was plastic wrapping in the box with the bubble wrap Border Force wrapped around the bottle so at least I know that the box was sealed and there isn't usually a seal on the bottle itself.

I agree with others - the box comes with a plastic wrap but the bottle itself isn't sealed. I have never had this happen in 21 years of ordering NDT from other countries and I think they would be fine, but I would in any case contact the relevant authorities to mention your concern, which is very real these days. They should be able to see that the bottle is genuine from the box. If you haven't taken Thyroid-S before I suggest you have a look online to see what they look like and their smell and taste. I think a couple of other sites have photos of them. I found them better than NatureThroid so I hope you get on well with them!

Thank you for your reply. I really don't want to draw attention to myself regarding Border Force as I am worried that it could backfire on me if I make a complaint. I've had an order confiscated previously where I lived because it wasn't on the "white list" of the place I lived and customs refused to release it. I lost nearly £100 of thyroid meds which I can't afford to do now. Hopefully these are ok and I don't have any problems but if I do I will be wondering whether its because they just don't agree with me, or whether they have been tampered with. Oh the joys of self-treating! lol

I can understand then that you'd rather not contact anyone about this. I would imagine that if the tablets had been substituted with something else you'd know very quickly, but if they are genuine (which I'm sure they are), but they are just not the right brand of NDT for you, then you'd notice a difference more gradually.
