Whitbym,
Can you post the lab ref ranges for your TSH and T3 results. The ranges are the figures in brackets after the results. 8.5 is high a result for T3, did you mean T4?
Hi Clutter
Yes I did mean T4 = 8.5
Also my Vit D= 17.8
I never got given any reference ranges only the figures posted earlier
I can't make anything of the results ...no idea
Whitbytm,
TSH 3.179 indicates your thyroid is failing but is not usually high enough for primary hypothyroidism to be diagnosed.
You need to find out from your GP practice what the T4 ref range is. If 8.5 is within range then you are not yet hypothyroid but if it is below range you quite possibly have central hypothyroidism and need referral to endocrinology for investigation and treatment.
VitD 17.8 is severely deficient. Your GP should refer to local guidelines or the NICE CKS recommendations for treating vitamin D deficient adults cks.nice.org.uk/vitamin-d-d... My GP prescribed 40,000iu daily x 14 followed by 2,000iu daily x 8 weeks which raised vitD from <10 to 107. Vitamin D should be taken 4 hours away from Levothyroxine and T3.
Alternatively you can buy vitamin D3 without prescription from Amazon. If you buy on Amazon please use the affiliate link healthunlocked.com/thyroidu...
Thank you for the info
Could you explain the Tpo results they are positive and 426
Is this unusual??
Kind thanks
Whitbytm,
TPO = thyroid peroxidase antibodies. 426 is positive for autoimmune thyroiditis (Hashimoto's). There is no cure for Hashimoto's which causes 90% of hypothyroidism. Levothyroxine treatment is for the low thyroid levels it eventually causes. Many people have found that 100% gluten-free diet is helpful in reducing Hashi flares, symptoms and eventually antibodies.
