Hello, I am wondering if anyone could advise me, I have all the symptoms of an underactive thyroid and even doctors have suggested that I have one and have sent me for a TSH, I have had one of these before and it came back normal but I have been advised that this routine TSH is not really the best test and that doctors should carry out a T3 and FT4 (I think she said) now my doctors have advised they wont do this and only need to do TSH.
The lady who told me this who had the same test and hers came back normal so she paid for one privately and it actually came back that she had an underactive thyroid
Has anyone else had this same problem?
Thanks

Thousands and thousand of people have had this problem. You need the following tests - TSH - FT4 - FT3 and also B12 - Folate - Ferritin - VitD . Home testing Kits are available from companies in the link below ...
Well yes - in theory they should do something. Or they may rubbish your tests and then do their own ! Self medication is also a possibility - as many of us do. I live in Crete so things are different here ...
What self medication do you take? I have gone up two dress sizes in very little time, I exercise 5 nights a week with a personal trainer and eat very healthy , there is no reason for me to put over a stone on, I get a very sore throat often and it feels like I have an apple stuck in it making it difficult to swallow
