Not a very good visit....cried for most of the day

Came out forgetting to ask for my results, will have to get from the GP.

This was probably the worst appointment I have ever had, didn't even ask how I am feeling....She has said I am over medicated, reiterated the dreadful impact of T3 on my body, the main thing is that it will damage my heart, my husband asked what else...she said hair loss and exhaustion..he asked is there any other reason for not prescribing it and she said 'This AHA has decided to ban it, should she need some it will have to be bought over the internet.'

She went on to say the other symptoms I am experiencing since coming off T3 are 'probably other issues' ie exhaustion is as when I lie down there will be pressure on my throat stopping a good sleep (FFS), weight gain is 'as the amount of calories you put in to your body has to be reduced to loose weight' ...well who'd have known, swollen feet and hands...water retention...I said that I hoped she was correct, that reducing to 75 would help me, I really hope that...but that I wish she knew how I felt every day from waking up to getting .......I got that far and she snapped 'I am suggesting a second opinion...I will write immediately to your GP.

So that was it.........

I'm sorry the doctor refuses to listen to you.

The AHA has decided to ban T3? That would very much surprise me! The NHS is trying to stop doctors prescribing it, because of costs, but even they say it is possible to prescribe it, if the patient really needs it. She's just making it up as she goes along!

Why don't you buy your own T3, and to hell with her!

It really makes me angry how the doctors just throw ethical practices out the door to win an argument and to be right. What kind of person would do this to another human being, just flat out lie when someone's life and well being are at stake. 😡

I'm so sorry @liz1952. I hope you get better somehow by taking the advise from the members on here.

I've already prepared myself to self medicate because I have a feeling that my new doctor just gave me this trial T4 to shut me up. In 4 weeks I'll likely feel like you and when that happens I'm self-medicating.

We hear it so often don't we Inana? I firmly believe that there are a large proportion of doctors who think we are all barking mad....it's all in our minds etc. Yes.....am taking things in to my own hands now. Thank you for your support, it's so appreciated x

Liz, I've had an endo appointment like that so sending you a hug. How I managed to drive home, shaking with rage, I don't know.

Take a deep breath and repeat after me, "my Endo is a pr@t". Feel a bit better?

AHA? American Heart Association?

What do they have to do with determining thyroid treatment?

Another doctor who thinks they are a god that we must bow and scrape to......us puny human beings against their self-perceived magnificence.

Sending you a hug (())

You are more than welcome.

Some of these doctors should read a little more into the thoughts of Hippocrates......."Cure sometimes, treat often, comfort always". ;)

Some different opinions on the effect of low T3.

The above article is the first in a series by Chris Kresser about low T3. It's worth reading the series.

If anyone ever mention fractures as a result of having a below range TSH (which often happens in people taking T3) then pass on the info in this post - the relevant link is in the last post :
