I'ts my first time on this forum. My problem is I suffer from an underactive thyroid, I have just started to suffer from vaginal itching to the point where I do not know what to do with myself. As anyone else suffered like this. I have been given all sorts of creams from the doctor but nothing as worked. I am an older lady and am in the late stages of the menopause. Love to hear from anyone who is having the same experience.

Thyroid & itchy skin
Hi ...this is a common side effect of the menopause and probably nothing to do with your thyroid..I am now post menopause having gone 2yr without a period...but spent the last few years feeling itchy ..it's down to vaginal dryness which comes with menopause due to big drops in estrogen...I kept thinking I had thrush but swabs never showed that i had.For some reason it's calmed down now and I didn't take anything for it.Looks like you have tried creams with no success. ..maybe hrt could help?...I'm sure you have looked at things such as recently changing your washing powder/fabric conditioner?..that could be irritating you as would non cotton underwear.
Thank you for your advice but I have been on HRT and vaginal pessaries but nothing as seems to work.I now have an appointment with a dermatologist in seven weeks time. I am hoping he will be able to help.
Ahh ...I see well good luck with that ...just a thought though..which came first?... the hrt/pessaries or the itching....?...just wondered if it was a side effect.?
The itching. Medication made it worst.
I won't go into too much detail, but I have had severe problems in that department this year (I am well post-menopause!). I have found that organic Aloe Vera gel has been a big help. I have found Cytoplan brand very good, some AV gels tend to be more liquid than others and would be a bit difficult to use there, but the Cytoplan one is a nice gel consistency.
