I'm currently taking Thai 'Thiroyd' NDT, but I've been looking up NDT from organic or grass fed sources and came across Thyrovanz which says it is made from the thryoid glands of pasture fed New Zealand beef.
Its only other ingredients are Gelatin, Long Rice Flour, Vegetable Stearate, and Silica.
But in the FAQs it says it cannot give ratios of T1, T2, T3, T4 & calcitonin because it is a natural product and amounts have not been established.
It comes in 50,100,150 & 300mg doses
I'd be interested to know what people with a bit more experience than me think. Am I allowed to post a link to the website?

Thanks, I've been looking at that just now. More confused now! So is there a difference between the NDT that is prescribed (Armour, Erfa etc.) and these 'natural' glandulars like Thyrovanz, Metavive, Thyro-gold?
They appear to be made from the same thing - either porcine or bovine thyroid - so is the processing different? the STTM book does not seem to talk about the ones sold as natural glandulars.
Yes there's a difference. NDT such as Armour, Erfa, etc, have set amounts of T4 and T3. You know exactly what you are getting each time you buy it, there is strict control during it's manufacture as it is a bona fide prescription thyroid medication (obviously Thai NDTs don't require a prescription).
The glandulars are just that, they use the whole gland with unknown amounts, no guarantee of how much of anything is included because it's not possible to know, and it can vary from batch to batch. As it is sold as a food supplement it can be obtained without prescription.
Right I see, thank you. As I understood it the Thai NDT, though sold without prescription, is manufactured the same as the prescription NDTs - am I right?
I suppose my question is can I get a bona fide NDT with reliable ratios without a prescription, that also has very few added ingredients and comes from pigs/cows that are either organic/naturally fed with high welfare standards, not intensively farmed? As far as I have found so far the only ones that talk about where the animals come from & welfare standards are the glandulars.
Yes, the Thai NDT is the same as the prescription NDT, it's much cheaper and many people do very well on it. There are three brands that I know of, some people do better on a particular brand than another. Have you seen the list of all NDT brands in SSTM
I don't know of any brand of NDT that actually meets you criteria. If you are worried about animal welfare your choice might be between a combination of synthetic Levo/T3 or seeing how you get on with the glandulars.
Yes I've seen the list and do keep referring back to it but like you say not sure any of them talk about the animal sources.
Doing quite well on the thai NDT but I do seem to have lapses where i have the upped my dose but am now on 3 grains and am nervous about going up any more. So I thought i might try a different brand and see how I do.
