I am new by the looks of things I have Hashimoto. Do my levels need improving? I am feeling awful on dose 200mcg levo and 10mcg T3. I was diagnosed 2011 with primary hypothyroidism.

Thanks in advance.

TPO >1000 (<34)

TG 267.5 (115)

TSH 2.15 (0.2 - 4.2)

FT4 15.1 (12 - 22)

FT3 4.0 (3.1 - 6.8)

Hi lauren,

Welcome.

Yes you do have Hashimoto's.

Your bloods are interesting.

Your FT3 which is the active hormone and the one we need to feel well is very low in range.

4.9 would put your FT3 half way up the range but some feel better with FT3 levels even higher like top 1/3 of the reference range.

Your TSH could be lower and your FT4 (which also is not even half way in range) could also be a bit higher.

I would suggest that you need a dose increase but I can certainly understand you feeling awful with an FT3 that low.

Wharton dies your gp say?

Others should be along soon to offer their ideas.

Thanks for reply, GP has just said I have positive thyroid antibodies and a family history of autoimmune disease.

Have you had levels checked for vitamin D, folate, ferritin & B12?

Very common for these to be too low. Always get full copies of the results (including ranges)

Also very many of us with Hashimotos find going strictly gluten free diet can improve symptoms and may slowly lower antibodies over time

See Thyroid Uk website

Also lots about diet, gluten, gut health , food intolerances & gut infections etc on

Thanks for reply, I have had all levels checked for vitamin D and folate and ferritin and B12.

Are they at good levels, not just anywhere within range.

Typically vit D needs to be near or above 100, ferritin above 70 & B12 & folate near very top or higher.

No they are very low. I have posted them. I supplement for most of them.
