Hello Mintychristine. I'm new on here, joined a month ago.

Having read your first post from January I was wondering what your Doctor is doing for you???

Are you in UK or USA?

Why are you treating yourself for anemia? Why are you taking loads of vitamins?

Why isn't your Doctor treating your Anemia and Jaundice?

Were you able to have all the blood tests and get a written copy of the results - including the normal ranges?

It is difficult to comment without knowing exactly what supplements you are taking.

When were your most recent blood tests carried out?

There are creams for itching, Eurax for example. Sometimes effective.

Tinnitus is a tricky one. Thankully mine is intermittent and attacks don't last very long.

Sorry, but more information is needed.

Are you still seeing the Rheumatologist? Is he helping you at all?

Are you still on 250mcg Thyroxine?

Sorry can't be much help.

ps Is the itching on your legs and our your legs swollen - is skin dry ? You could ask for referal to Lympthoedema Clinic. You might get help with special creams and made to measure stocking or tights.

Hi Mintychristine,

If you have anaemia which I am concerned about, your should be having iron supplements. If your dr will not give you a prescription, get a second opinion. It is vital you get the iron into your blood. Vitamins will not do it alone. You also need to be checked for B12 deficiency, which may mean a jab of B12 every couple of months and Vitamin D deficiency also means a couple of supplements, especially if you have arthritis and underactive thyroid.

I have just read Mary-intussuception reply, if your dose is as high as she has asked, then I would definitely seek a second opinion as you need the right medication. The itchy skin, is it red or inflamed? You might have cellulitis, which is a skin condition and can lead on to odema, too which again needs medication - cellulitis needs antibiotics and the odema would need a diuretic.

I know from my own experience as I was born with a partial gland and have been on medication all my life. I was fine until I was 32 but then the powers that be started messing me around. As a result I have everything, B12 deficiency, pernicious anaemia, vitamin D deficiency, odema, controlled cellulitis. At my highest I was on 250 mcg on thyroxine which was too much and now I am on 200 mcg (which I was on before my troubles began) and I call my natural dose, plus 20 mcg of the T3 lithyronine, which they are trying to get me off due to expense.

I do suffer tinnitus from time to time and I am hard of hearing.

I also believe I have arthritis in my back, but they will not scan me because they say it is my weight causing it, but I had it long before they started messing me around and I started gaining.

Please seek medical help and or at the very least, get a second opinion.

By the way, anaemia, B12 deficiency, vitamin D deficiency go hand in hand with thyroid conditions sometimes.

Ask the dr for your results to blood tests and also the ranges. My sister who also has a thyroid condition has recently been put on iron supplements but I had to fight for her, as they told me that her iron levels were in the normal range, so I challenged what they classed as "normal" and it was at the low end, so they had to give her supplements and her blood count is correct now.

Let us know how you get on and take care :)

Excess vitamin B is excreted in urine, though tinnitus can be due to insufficient B12. Have you been checked for pernicious anaemia? It's another autoimmune disease, so could be linked to RA, & if you have Hashimoto's.

It's good to medicate if you have deficient blood test results, & also to make sure any supplements are taken for optimal effect as some clash with each other, thyroid hormones, or foods. I take a prescribed iron sulphate tablet with citrus fruit for vitamin C, & take it between meals > 4 hours after my THs, so other foods don't clash & reduce absorption. My ferritin was low, so I added a smaller dose of iron biglycinate. Neither of my supplements are from haem iron as I don't eat meat, though this source is supposed to be better for increasing ferritin & iron.

My tinnitus improved a little when I started using sublingual B12, though it's usually caused by my teeth clenching & TMJ issues.

A friend found Levothyroxin made her itch all over, & I has the same issue when I took thyro-gold. I didn't try anti-histamine a, which may have stopped this. Has your GP been if any help?
