Hi.

Could some one help me out, please. I'd like to get an ASI saliva test done over the post in the UK. Try as I might I can't find out who, where and how... Any assistance gratefully received.

Stevie :-)

Genova Diagnostics UK :

gdx.net/uk/product/adrenal-...

Read each of the tabs and the Additional Resources.

Don't order via the website. Instead, follow the instructions on how to order and how to get your results on this page :

thyroiduk.org.uk/tuk/testin...

There was a suggestion recently that Genova were going to stop providing DHEA results with this test, but what they've done apparently, is reduced the number of DHEA tests included from two to one.

Thank you so much, humanbean. It was kind of you to reply - and with such comprehensive detail :-)

I am in the process of trying to get my results from Genova. The website still suggested two DHEA when I ordered it so that is what I am expecting. But be warned that I have had four days when the phone has been permanently on long term hold and two of simply answer phone and this was before the move. They are really difficult to get hold off. Second issue is that all samples go to the USA so having received my samples 29//03 I cant expect my results until 14/04 at the earliest.

cwill Genova won't deal with patients direct, we have to go through a 'practitioner'. We can order direct from them but have to name a practioner. Even if you manage to get through to them they probably won't discuss anything with you.

Who was your 'practitioner'? If it was ThyroidUK then the results will go direct to them.

I've had three tests done over time, all of them have taken up to 3 weeks for the results to come back.

Yes the practitioner is Thyroid uk but my initial calls were to check that the test still included DHEA as some doubt was raised on here although they were still advertising the full bundle so I wanted to check before ordering. The person that I spoke to yesterday said that they are happy to deal with patients queries... But all samples go to USA so reporting is not likely to be super swift. This is the third time that I have had this test but definitely the slowest and hard to get correct info. Even my private doctor tells me the tests to get and leaves me to organise them so this is not the first time I have had to ring to ask about tests but by far the most complex.

Bit more info. I read somewhere that saliva samples are good for five days... So, if they're being sent to America, how are they getting from us to whoever then on to America within that time? By travelling down a worm hole; by Tardis; Polaris missile?

That's why I used Blue Horizon! :)

steviecat You send the saliva samples to Genova frozen, with a little freezer pad in with it, so when it arrives the next day it might still be frozen. I actually freeze mine on super freeze, then keep it in the freezer an extra day before sending it off. I don't know how they send it to the US but I imagine it has to be temperature controlled.

That's surprising @seasidesusie , salivary cortisol is stable for up to 4 weeks at ambient with the right tubes. I'll send you one of ours FOC to have a go with. ☺

Hi

Is your Adrenal stress test the same as the one Genova offers?

Thanks

BlueHorizonMedicals profile image
BlueHorizonMedicals in reply toLindsayf

Hi Lindsayf

The Blue Horizon offering is just Salivary Cortisol x 4 although we also do a 6 x Salivary cortisol now which plots more points.

You can get £30 off them with code THYCOR and with each purchase we also donate extra to Thyroid UK.

The salivettes are chewy and different than dribbling in a tube and it is analysed at a UK lab with a 2 day TAT.

We don't do Salivary DHEA or other Hormones, just the Cortisol - it's the only thing we can guarantee.

Thanks very much... i want to test in a few weeks so I'll have a more in depth look later. Thanks for the code :)

BlueHorizonMedicals Thank you Paul :)

If you take adrenal support in the form of adaptogens (Adreset) and use progesterone cream, do you have to leave them off for any length of time? Or continuing with them maybe the result would tell you if using them is helping????

BlueHorizonMedicals in reply toSeasideSusie

Hi Seaside Susie,

I have asked our Doctor. Hope to be back to you soon with an answer.

Paul.

BlueHorizonMedicals profile image
BlueHorizonMedicals in reply toSeasideSusie

@seasidesusie... From our Doctor.

Adaptogens are not steroids - so unlikely to directly influence results, and therefore no need to leave them off.

Progesterone cream however may influence results - particularly if progesterone is being measured of course. Progesterone is a precursor of a number of other steroid hormones - including cortisol, testosterone and oestradiol. So hypothetically, taking progesterone in any form may skew results.

Before and after testing would tell you if there was any effect from exogenous meds on the adrenal axis though.

G.

Thanks, Elaine - would you mind me asking; did you pay the £129 that they seem to be asking?

Peony57 profile image
Peony57 in reply tosteviecat

I paid £85

SeasideSusie profile image
SeasideSusieRemembering in reply tosteviecat

steviecat Where have you got £129 from? If you go through ThyroidUK as your practioner, the Genova END01 is £77 and the END02 is £107 (that one includes IGA as well as cortisol).

Smart Nutrition use Genova, theirs is GEND01 and costs £85 and GEN02 is £107

I paid £130 but that was a deal where it was half price when purchased with another product so I bought a thyroid test too as I'll need to test in the near future.
