Unstable Thyroid levels
Palberts01,
125mcg isn't a high dose for someone without a thyroid gland. Can you post your recent thyroid results and ranges (the ranges are the figures in brackets after the results).
TSH. 1.70 (0.30-1.70)
Free T3. 3.6 (1.5-4.1)
Free T4. 1.22. (0.80'2.00)
Palberts01,
If those results are based on you taking 125mcg I would say you are a reasonably good converter and probably don't need T3. Increasing Levothyroxine dose to 125/150mcg alternate days would raise both FT3 and FT4 and reduce TSH slightly.
The goal of Levothyroxine is to restore the patient to euthyroid status. For most patients that will be when TSH is 1.0 or lower with FT4 in the upper range. FT4 needs to be in the upper range in order that sufficient T3 is converted. Read Treatment Options in thyroiduk.org.uk/tuk/about_... If your vitD is low that will cause joint pain. There are many types of D3. I like softgel capsules which only have the D3 and carrier oil but you can also get drops and oral or nasal sprays. It's worth trying an alternative to what you've alread tried but some people can't take any vitD and have to rely on building up natural vitD levels by getting sun on their face, arms and legs.
