His there, I'm new to this and I'm hoping someone can help in 2004 I had the right side of my thyroid removed due to an adenoma now in the past couple of month's my left side has swollen and my gp has confirmed there is something growing and it feels quite big.. I'm getting referred back to the endocrine clinic but am I being paranoid to think the worse which will be another removal. My blood tests have been taken and just waiting on results but before they always came back normal. Any answers or help would be appreciated. Thank you.

Chantel12,
A pity your GP hasn't referred you for a thyroid ultrasound scan to see what the swelling is. It could be a goitre or thyroid nodule. 95% of thyroid nodules are benign. It will depend on the size of a goitre or nodule and whether either is impacting nearby organs as to whether either would need surgical removal.

Thanks brilliant thanks, I tried to get her to give some off the record scenerios but she just kept shrugging her shoulders with I don't know. I'm hoping to hear sooner rather than later due to it being a second growth. X

Chantel12,
Perhaps you could ask your GP to refer you for an ultrasound scan. The endocrinology clinic will probably need to arrange one if your GP doesn't. This might save some time.
