Hair loss, hair growth...

My hair continues to fall out but my hairdresser says I have new hair coming through. Is the hair which I am losing in the telogen phase and the new hair anagen? Basically, does this mean my hair might be getting sorted at last?

My hair has also become rather greasy recently which is a first for me. Has anyone noticed a change in their hair and did this relate to anything, i.e. over medicated?

I have Hashimoto's and have been losing my hair for the last year. Amongst other supplements, I take Evening Primrose oil and biotin.

Thanks.

It's very common with hypothyroidism for our hair to thin or drop out. Sometimes it is the medication and when an optimum is reached hair can grow back again.

Hi Shaw, thank you for your response. My confusion surrounds still having hair loss but also having new hair grow through?

Maybe that's how Mother Nature Works, otherwise you may become bald.

No wonder you were confused. I am sorry, for some reason that was the wrong link. Hope this one throws more light upon hair loss.

I don't understand that link Shaws. Not to do with hair.

When my hair started regrowing, due to being on the right dosage, I had the same expierence. My hairdresser even asked if she could take pictures of my hairline since she had never seen anyone's grow back. Everytime I go in we document the process. After 6 months, I now have thicker hair. Whoo hoo! The downside is that mine got greasy as well so I stopped using conditioner near my scalp and just put it on the very ends. This seems to work.

Did you find you were also shedding hair, quite substantial amounts, whilst at the same time having new hair grow? I also noticed you used Nioxin. Did this help?

At first yes, but then the shedding slowed down and now it is at a normal amount. I think the Nioxin helped in the beginning. I am not so sure it is still helping, but I don't want to take the chance of quitting and having it get worse again. :)

Thanks asmile4u, that gives me some clarity. I have ordered some Nioxin so hopefully things are on the mend. Good news about your hair, so may it continue!
