Hiya, I have been trying to look at the Thyroid UK website for a few days now and it won't load. Does anyone know if its down or its just my computer and ipad as it just comes up "can't reach this page".

Just tried - no problem. Double-check you've got the right details. I know, sounds obvious and patronizing but just in case...

Thanks for trying. It must be just me as even the link you sent me doesn't load. Thanks anyway x

Over the past couple of weeks I and my husband have been having loading problems and have been logged out many times after a few minutes. This all came about after Microsoft had done a large upload on Windows 10. I understand many people are having problems with this still. Perhaps that is why you are having problems.

I had a look at the website last night. When I clicked the 'Contacts' button, a new window opened offering the services of sparsely clad girls from Asia! It kept happening, so I assumed the website had been hacked - meant to tell TUK today, but forgot. I've scanned my laptop and done the usual malware and AV checks - everything up to date and tickety-boo at my end.

Thank you, Shaws. I couldn't find a direct email address for Louise, and I didn't want to use a contact form after what happened.

You can send an email to louise.roberts@thyroiduk.org.uk

or you could try using the website feedback form. This link takes you directly to it, which should avoid the hack you get when accessing via the homepage. thyroiduk.org.uk/tuk/forms/...

I've just been on the ThyriodUK ite and it seems to be ok. I need to renew my subscription so I think I'll do it by cheque!

It might be device and/or browser dependent - what do you use?

I tried it in IE on Windose, and Safari on Mac. I got the hack in both, when clicking on certain links.

I don't know what you mean by hack. The page won't load at all on my iPad or laptop with windows 10.

I used my iPad and Safari.

FNC, Oh well you're probably quite safe then. Hacks tend not to work on pads :)

I use mainly Opera, also Firefox - I think Opera was the one I used last night.

I just tried Firefox on Mac and got it too. It is very annoying!

I wish I'd read this before spending the last two days, running ant-virus, ant-malware etc, programmes, as well as uninstalling and reinstalling several programmes. My laptop has been impossible ever since the Microsoft Windows 10 update, which there's no longer a choice about downloading. It's been taking half an hour to boot and every programmes has either not opened at all, opened with bits missing, stopped responding, or freezing. I hate Windows 10. Why didn't Microsoft stop with XP, which was great. I often wonder if Microsoft does this to deliberately sabotage any programmes that are by other software companies. I use an alternative browser, email programme, anti-virus. and office programme as I didn't like the new Microsoft versions in Windows 10 and the cost of Office is extortionate.

When I have managed to get my browser to work, I've had no problem accessing this website, though a number of other websites seem to be having problems, including my GP's. It's had a notice on it for a few days now saying their trying to sort it out urgently. Perhaps the whole system is creeking under the stress of everyone doing their Christmas shopping.

I got sick and tired of Microsoft's insidious tactics of trying to download Windows 10 on my computer and laptop, both of which were running Windows 7, but then I found out how to uninstall the update that would ultimately lead to the automatic installation of W10. Now Microsoft have taken their revenge by not being able to install any more updates for W7, so I went out and got myself a Mac. Have had no problems since! 😄

I was using a windows 8.1 laptop until fairly recently, but then it became very unstable as a result of disk errors. Rather than wait for it to collapse entirely I reverted to using an old windows vista PC. I have the "wait forever to find out which updates are required" problem on vista too.

This page helped me to bring it up to date until about October :

wu.krelay.de/en/

You have to start with the earliest month that updates stopped working and then work your way forward. It gives you the links to each month in the top couple of lines on the page.

So, if you haven't managed to apply the May 2016 updates then you'd start with this page :

wu.krelay.de/en/2016-05.htm

If you haven't managed to apply updates since June then you need to start with this page :

wu.krelay.de/en/2016-06.htm

Once you've got those updates running then you have to go through each month in turn and apply the relevant updates, so follow instructions on the pages :

wu.krelay.de/en/2016-07.htm

wu.krelay.de/en/2016-08.htm

wu.krelay.de/en/2016-09.htm

etc.

Sorry, I'm not volunteering to help with this. You're on your own!

Thanks for that. I will try that for my laptop that hasn't updated since July, but then again, I tend not to use that for any internet... It's just where my music is stored and plumbed into my stereo. I use the Mac for anything to do with the internet. 😃
