Thyroid UK's New Website is Here!

This is just to let you know that we have launched our new website today. Some of you may not be able to access it for a few hours but don't worry, you will be able to see it soon.

If you see any errors, do let us know. It's not completely finished but we wanted to launch it rather than wait.

The design may change again over the next few weeks and we will be adding various things as we go along.

The website address is now thyroiduk.org and not thyroiduk.org.uk

I am afraid any bookmarks you have made will no longer work. There is a message on the 404 page that will give a link to the new website.

We hope you like it! Do let us have your feedback - thyroiduk.org/contact-us/we...

I was wondering what was going on with the site! I can't wait to see the new one! (newly diagnosed... yesterday!)

We've had help from a web designer who specifically looks at the user experience and he has shown us how to make it more user friendly. Hope you like!

Lyn,

Might be a good idea to post the secure address: thyroiduk.org/

(That link starts h t t p s : / /)

(The h t t p : / / address also works and gets automatically redirected to h t t p s : / / but might as well publicise the "proper" address, don't you think?)

I'm afraid I don't understand. Are you saying I shouldn't have put www at the beginning? Is that what is causing all of these problems?

without the www the link doesn't work on here.

I have just edited my response above - I have added spaces between the characters.

If you type "t h y r o i d u k . o r g", the HU software does NOT see that as a link.

If you type "h t t p s : / / t h y r o i d u k . o r g", the HU software DOES see that as a link.

(HU, however, does also recognise links starting "w w w ." That is why the link with w w w . works but the one without remains as plain text.)

(Obviously, most of the time we copy the address from somewhere that it already exists - like the address bar of your browser. Even if you cannot see the h t t p s : / / when you select it and copy and paste, it will be there.)

so if I only use thyroiduk.org it will be ok? Sorry, I don't understand tech as much as I would like to!

The link in that reply is:

h t t p : / / w w w . t h y r o i d u k . o r g

It would be (marginally) better to use:

h t t p s : / / w w w . t h y r o i d u k . o r g

or

h t t p s : / / t h y r o i d u k . o r g

It makes no difference whether you include w w w or not - except to HU converting it to a clickable link. HU software has "seen" h t t p s : / / w w w . but only displays t h y r o i d u k . o r g

If, when you put a link into a post, you always include h t t p s : / /, HU will always convert it to a clickable link.
