I have previously had an overactive thyroid 25 years ago. Was stabilised on carbomizole and left on 5mg every other day. For last 15 years. Tsh and t4 fluctuated but optimal tsh for me was about 1.3 and t4 optimal about 15. i felt well on this. And always had bloods and liver checked regularly. New doctor came on the scene and did not care it was stable and I was well. Wanted me off them. Readings plummeted. Brought on my chronic anxiety which i generally managed well. Started feeling nausea all day, shakes, sparky surges..flushes and not eating and tiredness .lost nearly 2 stone in last 2 months. I changed doctors who allowed me to stay on 1 every 4. But she blames anxiety despite readings heading to hyper I think. I tried back to one every other day but think it was a bit of a shock to system after being on one every four for 10 months so cut back again until I get more advice..it was a gradual decline. Back to one every 4 and I was advised to get the readings below by this group.
Any help on these readings would be most appreciated. Could the low vit D be an issue .?
Vit D .... 40 (advised needs supplement)
Tsh 0.6
T4... 22.7 bit high ?
T3 . ..5.4
B12 ....642
Folate 13.5
Ferratin 146
Still feel rubbish so tired. I could sleep all day if I could. Only time I feel a little normal is evening time. Then I wake up in the morning and it starts all over again. So hyper alert to noise . Sets off the adrenalin. It's so rubbish..
Thank you x

Yes your Vitamin D would benefit from a booster dose and then a maintenance dose and B12 needs to be ideally 900+ Folate not too bad but get the others up to speed and then you may be able to tweak your dose a little. The supplements will get you to convert better so you may be able to then drop your dose down a little as you will get your FT3 to hopefully rise with the range.
Thank you so much . So if I go into a health shop hopefully a nutritionalist would help on those. Do you think I should go for an overall mix containing various vitamins or just specific vit d and B12. Also wondered about vitamin c ? Someone mentioned that is beneficial when on carbomizole. I spoke to doctor today . She confirmed now readings are showing overactive she is OK for me to increase my dose of carbomizole . When I have spent the last 3 months begging to stay on any at all, I knew my symptoms were returning. But until you hit the magic number in their range they don't listen. And they don't take into account individual optimal ranges. I always knew what was good for my wellbeing and had to sit and watch the tsh drop and t4 rise.. Hopefully I will get back on track soon as it's quite borderline. I just feel immensely sick upping the dose again. Will have to do it a bit more gradually this time ..Thank you for your time xx
Dose vitamins etc separately . There isn't enough in the multi sort to makecmuch difference. Don't take them all at once though. Start on one and wait a week before adding another in etc as then if anything disagrees with you then you can tell which it is.
Thanks again. So long as I start heading in the right direction. Irony is I was doing just fine until the doctor decided I did not need my Meds. Despite me being well with good readings . I so hate that doctor . And he has been well dumped x
Just keep reminding yourself that you will get there. When things were t going well for me I listened for a couple of years before I was brace enough to comment and then I felt able to try out something new. But I realised from day one you can't/shouldn't try to do more than one thing at a time or else you can't be sure if both working so could be wasting money so can't remember now where I went first but I picked one that seemed easy to do and thought that I really needed and went on from there. I found it needed a lot of courage and a lot of reading up etc but I know if I have a problem where to come. It doesn't mean I will then make the right decision but it's something else to try and I have to think about is it right for me. I think we often need encouragement and it's not easy at times to even think about decisions never mind following it through and even though it may not work I don't look on it as failure butcanotger lead I've tried and so search for another path to tale. If nothing else itcteachers me to listen to my body which is a skill that can be productive. a skill that can be very helpful. Small steps are best and keep telling yourself you shall succeed.
Again. Much thanks for your wise comments. I will endeavour to listen to my body, and take supplements gradually and see what works for me. Hopefully they will support the thyroid to enable it to get back on track with the increased carbomizole .... I did not realise what a complex creature it was. I watched an interesting video Dr John bergman I think his name was. Gosh he knows his stuff on the thyroid..big learning curve, but sometimes you just have to help yourself don't you. I will update with any progress in the coming weeks. Kindest regards
