Going back to doctor to ask for a blood test to see what (if any) effect going gluten free has had on my antibodies. Just wanted to check, do I only need to get my Thyroid Peroxidase Antibody level checked? And does any reduction mean it's helping or is it not as simple as that? Thank you in advance.

Thyroid antibodies - gluten free
No, it's not as simple as that, because antibodies fluctuate. So, you won't really know if they've gone down as a result of the gluten-free, or if it's just in the natural order of things.
And, just testing TPO antibodies only tell you half the story. Your TgAb could be elevated, too.
But, more important that blood tests, is how you feel. Do you feel any better for going gluten-free? If yes, then it was worth it, wasn't it. If no, then try eating it again, and see how you feel then.
Thanks Grey, I did think maybe it wasn't that simple. I'm not sure whether it's the gluten free diet or the medication that's made me feel better so I think I will reintroduce gluten and see how I feel. Thanks for your reply.
I've been watching a series on the internet called Betrayal which is about autoimmune disorders. They did say that it takes 3months for gluten to pass through your system. I have only cut it out for 6weeks so far, so will not get tested until February. I did have some English mustard last week without realising it had flour in it so have probably put myself back to square one.
Good luck and I hope it has worked for you.

Personally I would stick with GFree if you feel it's helping
