Gluten free and thyroid??
Many coeliacs appear also to have autoimmune thyroid disease so it seems there may be.
I am Gluten Intolerant (GF 5 years) and have underacive thyroid, no autoimmune issues just unlucky !
Hi there, I had been diagnosed as under active thyroid for over 20 years and I did not discover until last year that it was actually auto immune related. My experience in the UK is that they don't tell you, just put you on thyroxine and that's it. Seemingly the majority of people in the UK and US who are hypothyroid actually have autoimmune thyroid diseases (Hashimotos) or had Graves' disease and had their thyroid removed.
I've just had B12 and Ferritin tested...'normal' but what are the correct levels?
Some experts are now saying thst it is the gut going wrong that causes the thyroid to go wrong. Have a look at this link to see if it makes things a bit clearer.
