Hi guys i was diagnosed with hypo 2 years ago and am currently on 100 mcg levothyroxine, i also started taking 1200ug B12 and 1000iu vitamin d about 3 weeks ago, i recently had some blood tests done but i haven't got a clue how to understand them, my dr said they are fine but i don't feel fine.

I appreciate any advice i can get.

Check if you are taking Vit D3 - Cholecalciferol high dose to improve Vit D levels .

Catpurple7,

There's nothing fine about vitD 28 nmol/l. It is practically deficient. I would supplement 7,500iu D3 for 2-3 months then reduce to 2,500iu daily and retest in May. Take vitamin D 4 hours away from Levothyroxine.

B12 is okay but I would continue supplementing and take B Complex vitamin.

TSH 2.8 is rather high for someone taking Levothyroxine. Both FT4 and FT3 are sub optimal and will be higher if your GP increases dose to 125mcg. The goal of Levothyroxine is to restore the patient to euthyroid status which for most patients will be when TSH is 1.0 or lower with FT4 in the upper range and FT3 in, or near the top third of range. Read Treatment Options in thyroiduk.org.uk/tuk/about_... Email louise.roberts@thyroiduk.org.uk if you would like a copy of the Pulse article to show your GP.

HbA1C is negative for diabetes and everything else appears to be within normal range.

Thanks for the advice, I'll look for a higher dose D3 and a B complex.

I have a Dr's appointment on Wednesday so I'll ask him to increase my levo.

How long will it take to get my levels higher, and will i be able to lose weight then?

Catpurple7,

It will take 6-8 weeks to get your T4 and T3 higher and TSH lower. It should be easier to lose weight when you are optimally medicated but you will probably need to count calories and take exercise too.

Thanks for your reply, i didn't know that you shouldn't take levo before a test. do you think i need to have my tsh, ft4 and ft3 retested?
