Newbie - test results

Hi everyone. I've been reading a few posts but a little confused.

I had a blood test for a suspected gall stone about a month ago. results came back fine but the DR said my thyroid results were not right and wanted to test me again to have a side by side.

I was overjoyed that this was now being looked at as 2 years ago I had a blood test specifically for an Underactive thyroid as my symptoms were just to close to the mark.

Anyway new blood test results are back and everything is normal apparently! I am gutted as I felt I was finally closer to start feeling like me again (please don't get me wrong I am not 'wishing' to have a medical issue, but just thought it would explain so many things).

So I asked what my results are - all she could say was 0.30 - 4.20 and nothing else? I have no idea what this means. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Many Thanks

Katy x

Sorry I don’t know either. Perhaps you could ask for a print out. They keep telling us it’s a partnership ...

"So I asked what my results are - all she could say was 0.30 - 4.20 and nothing else?"

This is why we always advise asking for a print out of results, never accepting verbal or written ones.

She has given you the reference range but not the result. So one imagines she hasn't got a clue what she's talking about because she doesn't understand the results.

Pop along to your surgery, ask at reception for a print out. If you are in the UK it's your legal right and they can't charge.

Post your results, including the ranges, when you have them and members will comment.

You require an ultrasound for gallstone detection.

Sounds like receptionist may have read you the range for TSH but not the result! However although this range might go upto 4.20 GPs rarely start levothyroxin till it is way beyond this at 10 in GB. Get your blood tests print out, and post here- 'normal' is often not. Gallbladder / bile stone problems can relate to hypothyroidism apparently- bit late knowing this for me as though over 12 years hypo had horrendous routine procedure to remove stone from bile duct about 4 years ago that ended up in Intensive Care and insulin-dependent diabetes.
