There's no such thing as normal. The right reading is the one that makes you feel well. We're all different, so that could be at mid-range, or slightly over-range, whatever is good for you.

Just kind of confused I'm on 75 right now but my hair seems to be falling out more then as when I was on 88 I have more energy and 75 but more anxiety and on 88 no anxiety and less hair falling out but fatigue right now I have a choice to either go on 88 or 75 I'm out of my meds right now and I still have to fill it and I'm unsure what way to go

Theresa72,

You'll screw up your thyroid levels if you don't take Levothyroxine every day. Try to arrange for your prescription to be filled before you run out. If you've skipped several doses start at 88mcg.

Theresa72,

You could try 75mcg/88mcg alternate days.

Only thing is is she tested me in 4 weeks so who knows if it'll climb levels or what

I think you'll have to assume that it will go up in the next two weeks. But, even so, an FT3 of 3.1 sounds very low. Do you have a range for it? Did you have your FT4 tested?

Ft3 Range is 2.3-4.2

Ft4 is 0.76 ranges 0.61-1.44

Got my ferritin its 32.5 ranges 10.0-291.0

greygoose profile image
greygoose in reply to Theresa72

Well, your ferritin is much, much too low. Are you supplementing that?

Your FT3 isn't as low as I thought, it's just under mid-range. But your FT4 is lower. The good news is that you're converting ok, but you just don't have much to convert to enough FT3 to make you well.

What would you suggest ?

I do have iron pills should I be taking them

greygoose profile image
greygoose in reply to Theresa72

I think you should. With about 1000 mg vit C to help absorption.

But I'm not an expert on iron. If you have any doubts, post a new question, giving your level, and those that know about iron will respond. :)

One more question do you think that I should up my dose of thyroid medicine

greygoose profile image
greygoose in reply to Theresa72

Yes, I do. The Frees are too low.

Theresa72 in reply to greygoose

Only thing is when i went up only 88 my ft3 dropped to 2.6

Tested after only 4 weeks.

88 mcg is a tiny dose. You really do need more. Try it and see. Should your FT3 drop again, then we'll have to think again.
