Hypothyroidism, NDT and pains in legs and feet.

Hi everyone,

I have now been on NDT since September 6th, initially on 1 grain, (prior to this I was only on 50gms of Levo).

I did not see any changes in all my symptoms whilst on Levo and similarly now that I am on NDT I have seen no improvements whatsoever yet. I have been increasing the dose by half a grain per 2 weeks and am now up to 2 grains each morning.

I am taking vit D, magnesium, Vit B Complex inc. folate and B12, Omega-3 to top up all my levels.

I am about to start organising a private blood test through Blue Horizon again to see how all my levels are, but really wishing I would start to feel better.

The pains in my legs and feet and also my shoulders recently are getting worse and worse, almost like fibromyalgia (initially diagnosed with M.E. prior to proving that celiac disease and hypothyroidism were causing the symptoms!). My knees and face are just so puffy, tongue crimped around edges, eyebrows disappearing, and pain in feet from plantar facilitis is becoming quite debilitating now.

I intend to see the blood results then maybe add either/or Levo/T3 to the concoction, just wondered really if anyone else has changed to just NDT and found no changes to their symptoms, also what they did to improve any? It has been mentioned by others on here that I may have defective MTHFR and may need just T3, but I wanted to try the NDT first as it has all the different T's included and I find easier to source!

Thanks everyone

Some take more than 2 grains so it depends on whether your body needs more to relieve symptoms. This might be helpful:

Thank you Shaws x

Hi I take 2 grains also. One in the morning around 6.30 and another at about 2pm. You are taking the whole lot in the morning. It's different to Levo where you take just one dose.

Thank you Bunnyjean, do you still leave some time after lunch before taking the dose at 2pm so that the NDT is absorbed in the intestine without food being present?

in reply tojbthyro

Yes I have lunch here in France at 12 noon so, therefore, it is 2 hours in between. As long as you leave 1.5 hours, you have to suit yourself and your lifestyle ok?

Yes I need to investigate the D 102 gene tests, so that I know if that is the problem.

Is there anyone who recommends somewhere to get the D102 gene test done please?
