A couple of quick questions:
Is it OK to take Vit D and K together?
Is K2 OK to take if hypothyroid as it is made from soybeans?. I have the Solgar K2 MK-7 from Natto tablets.
Many thanks

shipscat K2 from Natto is fine, that is fermented soy. It is unfermented soy in any form us thyroidies should avoid. Also avoid any supplements that contain soy oil as that is unfermented.
I have seen that you can take K2 and D3 together, I've also seen an article where they should be taken separately but didn't bookmark it. However, I am now using a combined D3/K2 supplement and not worrying about it. Just remember to take them with some form of dietary fat, they are fat soluble and wont be absorbed without it.
What make is your combined supplement?, it would certainly be more convenient to take them both at the same time and at another time of the day other than breakfast. I usually take Vit D after my main evening meal.
This is the one I bought amazon.co.uk/Nutricology-Al... It also has Vit A which is apparently good for lung health and as I have a lung disease it's good to have this in my vitamin regime. There are other brands which are just D3/K2.
I had a look at this and one of the ingredients listed is Palm Oil. There are enormous environmental issues with this and I would plead with anyone to boycott this destructive ingredient. My son and daughter-in-law have just returned from living in Brunei where the devastating effects of this deadly harvest are felt every day and their stories of the constant pall of smoke that polluted the air out there are frightening, not to mention the destruction of wildlife and their habitat. If you'd like to find out more, just Google 'palm oil' and you will get plenty of websites where you can do your own research, but to get you started, here's just one of many I found: rainforest-rescue.org/topic...
Good spot Zephyrbear, I'm against palm oil too but it seems to be in everything. Not sure about how harmful it is to health with longterm use as apparently it is toxic to dogs. Several dogs died after ingesting palm oil washed up on our beaches.
I hadn't cottoned on to that. The trouble is finding supplements that don't include something we're not supposed to have for one reason or another, it's almost impossible to avoid everything. Magnesium Stearate is one and seems to be found in the greater majority of supplements, even the ones considered to be the better quality ones.
shipscat I've just found the article where it mentions not taking fat soluble vitamins together and it says:
"The fat-soluble vitamins (A, D, E, and K) are likely to be better absorbed if taken with a meal that contains fats. In fact, one study found that taking vitamin D with dinner rather than breakfast increased blood levels of vitamin D by about 50%. However, evidence (mainly from animal and cell studies) suggests that moderate to large doses of fat-soluble vitamins reduce absorption of other fat-soluble vitamins - by about 10 to 50% - due to competition. Absorption of vitamin K appears to be particularly reduced by other fat-soluble vitamins, while vitamin A absorption is least affected and may actually be better absorbed when taken with vitamin E (Goncalves, Food Chem 2015). Taking vitamins D, E, or K several hours before or after other fat-soluble vitamins would seem to maximize their absorption."

Fermented soya is fine, so your tablets should be ok, but I prefer to get my nutrients from food. I've started making my kefir (high B12, K2, & probotics) with full fat organic milk, as it's higher in Vitamin D. I eat this with nuts for better D absorption. I also eat organic brie for the K2, a few times a week, as it's the cheese I most like for this vitamin.
