Hi all, I'm waiting for my thyroid s to arrive, hopefully this week. Can anyone advise how best to take it, when, and how you did the change over from thyroxin? Thanks

Can you post your recent thyroid results and ranges and tell members what dose Levothyroxine you are taking?

hi, I don't have latest results but I've been on 125 mcg levothyroxin for years now

Lumamel,

125mcg is equivalent to 1.75 grains Thyroid-S. I would reduce Levothyroxine to 50mcg and introduce 1 grain NDT split into 2 x doses to see how you react to T3 in it.

After 2-3 weeks stop taking the 50mcg Levothyroxine and increase Thyroid-S to 1.75 grains.

I was on 125mcg of Levo too. I bought Thyroid S as well.

I changed over directly - one day Levo and next day onto NDT.

I started with 1 grain, took that for 2 or 3 weeks and increased by 1/4 grain every 2 or 3 weeks. The Levo stays in your system for up to 6 weeks so you won't be short of T4. I'm now on 2 grains (I just thought I couldn't be bothered messing about with the pill cutter for ever!) and I'm really happy on it. I'm just wondering when the time will come when I'm called in for my annual review and they notice I haven't ordered and Levo haha!!
