Hi

I'm thinking about having some private blood tests done. I looked at Blue Horizon but not sure which one to go for. Any recommendation?

Also, how is the blood taken? I'm a complete wimp!

thanks, I am 'borderline' hypothyroidism.

I was looking at the Thyroid 12. Can I do this test at home, or do I need to go to a private hospital to have the sample taken?

1004sonia The Plus 12 includes reverseT3 which you probably don't need, and it requires a plebotomist to draw blood. The Plus 11 will be fine.

There are various thyroid tests shown on the home page.

The Thyroid Check Plus Eleven is one of the most commonly used tests on this forum. It can be ordered as a microtainer test (blood is taken by pricking the fingers and allowing blood to drip into tiny tubes), or a vacutainer test (blood is taken from the crook of the elbow).

Getting someone to take blood from the elbow is a problem for many of us. There are ways and means and places to get it done, but it usually costs money. Ask about this if it interests you.

The Thyroid Check Plus Twelve is the same as the Plus 11, but it includes Reverse T3 as well. This test can only be ordered as a vacutainer test.

In each case, all the equipment and instructions required to do the test (take the blood) are sent to you through the post. The filled blood tubes must be packaged up and sent back to the lab the same day the blood is taken, posted "guaranteed next day delivery by 1pm". Results are sent to you via email a few days later.

thanks that's very helpful

I will order the pin prick one. I should probably come off the vitamins I am taking (Vitamin D) and wait a couple of weeks and then do the test so I can understand exactly what my accurate blood results look likt
