Does anyone take their NDT at night? I just thought it might help with taking it and vitamins 4 hours apart. Any help from you lovely people will be much appreciated.

Thanks.

I take mine at night, first night I took it have to say kept me awake for hours and I was buzzing with energy ..... But after a few night I slept fine, I also take half my dose first thing before I get up.

Thanks Pixielula, I might give it a go as I'm taking NDT and Vits all together, I don't think that I should be doing that. I thought it might have that effect, but good to know that it subsided.

I usually sleep really well and I just put it down to the t2 and t1..... If it had continued for more than a week I would have changed my timings

Going to give it a go tonight and see how I go! At least it's the weekend and it won't matter too much if I'm tired.

I have been considering taking NDT at night, away from everything else...I even read somewhere (cannot remember where) that the thyroid gland is actually more active during the night than during the day...although I suppose that is so that it can release hormones into the bloodstream in the early morning hours, enabling you to wake up refreshed...it's not easy, is it? I have been taking NDT in the morning, out of convenience more than anything else, but I have no idea if I am getting optimal results that way...so it would be interesting to know what other NDT users do...especially what has been working particularly well for you!

Thanks for the info. I used to take levo at night, and it worked for me, but wasn't sure if NDT would work in the same way. I think I'll just have to try it and see if it works. Might do it this weekend, then I'm not tired for work if it keeps me awake all night.

I do wake up tired in the morning and then have a slump in the afternoon, so not sure if this will help or not. Anyway the only way to know is to try it!

I am thinking of doing that because my energy is higher later in the day. ..about 12 hours after the dose at 8am. I haven't been sleeping well but it's hard to tell if that's an ndt effect, or the heat, or the lack of physicalexertion. Oh well I guess if I cannot sleep tonight then I may as well try the ndt at night! Let us know what happens for you 😀

Tried it last night. Didn't sleep very well but that could have been from having a coffee at the hairdressers at lunchtime yesterday. I'll keep trying and see how I go. Thanks for commenting. Rita

I took my thyrogold 150mg last night and I slept GREAT the best for a while. I have bbeen having restless legs and trouble sleeping since starting tgold, but i wasnt sure if it was the heat in UK at the moment.

I went to bed at 10pm last night, at 11pm it became obv i wasnt going to sleep so I took half my dose (150mg) and by 11pm I was asleep. I slept until 10am (woke twice only). SO THATS 11 HOURS!!

When you have trouble sleeping, its hard to know if the daytime fatigue is due to lack of sleep or hypo symptoms.

This was just one night. I will continue with 150mg at night and 150mg in the morning. and ill let you know!

I've previously taken thyroxine at night, and at other times T3 at night and slept well with both. However I don't with NDT (Armour). I find that the slumps disappear once I get up to a high enough dose. I am taking T3 as well as NDT though. Interesting that Pixielula found that buzz reduces if you keep going. Perhaps I didn't do it for long enough?

I think it's just a matter of trial and error. The guidance on here is good but everyone is individual as to how they respond to medication. Hope it works out for you.
