thyroid gold review
Hi Dn560
I am taking Thyroid gold. My third month now. I am feeling much better on it. My brain fog has gone. I am sleeping better . I have started to lose weight and my fatigue has got better. However it's not been an easy journey. Possibly because I increased to quickly. I was on 150mg of levothyroxine. I started on 150 mg of Thyroid gold , instead of being sensible and staying on that for a month or so I upped very quickly and suffered for it. Palpitations, restless legs, itchy skin. The worst was feeling like I could not catch my breath. I got advice on this forum and found that this was called "air hunger". I think caused by introducing the T3 too quickly. All of the negative side effects have largely stopped now and I do think that they were caused by my impatience to get well and going to quickly. So .... Yes I am on Thyroid Gold and I think for me it might be the way forward. Hope this helps

Thyro Gold doesn't contain as much hormone as porcine NDT so if you are on a high dose of Levothyroxine it can work out quite a bit more expensive than things like Thiroyd or Thyroid-S because you have to take a lot of it. However for those people who aren't bad enough to get their doctor to prescribe Thyroxine, or whose doctor doesn't prescribe enough Thyroxine, or for people who want to try something with just a little bit of T3 in, or for people who don't like to consume pig-related substances, it can be a really good solution.
Things turned me off about thyroid gold:
1) you have to sign an agreement that if you're meds get confiscated at customs there is no refund or repost. The Thai people will resend or refund.
2) in conjugation with point 1) it works out to be incredibly expensive if you needed more than 1 or 2 a day.
3) If you look on sttm, they suggest that bovine is less effective than porcine ndt due to the ratio (but if it works, it works so really who cares about this point, it's got good results).
4) What if you need 1/2 or 1/4 doses? (This wasn't a massive point in deciding but after taking ndt? Pill cutting is annoying at best imagine trying to shake 1/4 capsule out!)
I was so incredibly tempted when choosing an ndt and thyroid gold was my first choice and if I lived in the US that's what I would have gone with initially. However, it's super pricy (comparatively) and I don't want to lose a hundred bucks (+customs charges) if it got stuck in customs.
Lots of people swear by it. I've read a heap of good reviews on the net at large as I didn't find health unlocked until after I ordered my ndt. I'm sure it's great. I think it just depends on where you live and your budget and whether you're OK with pigs...
Hi would you mind giving me details of the thai suppliers! I have just moved back to the uk and can't get an answer from thyroid gold people.
Pm me if we are not allowed to put info on here
Thank you
I have been taking thyrogold for a year or so and this was the best I have felt in 20 years. I went to the web site ordered it ,paid for it by Visa card and it arrived through my letter box 3/4 days later . In May I did the same then got an e mail saying my order had been cancelled and refunded I had to sign a shipping agreement as I was from the uk . (I must have slipped through the net for some reason and gone through the US ). I had to order at least two plus £20 customs this makes it quite expensive , but I do feel much better than when I was taking thyroxine . Can I afford it now ?? Should I try another NDT which seems much cheaper ??
I have just ordered some and I am waiting for it to arrive. I chose it because of minimal fillers and that the cows are grass fed. It also appears to contain slightly more t3/t4 than most other ndts.
I'm looking forward to trying it. Have read some good reviews.

Thyro-gold was invented by Dr John Lowe, expressly for an NDT which didn't need a prescription. He has since died but his wife Tammy carries on with Thyro-gold.
Initially it was provided in 300mcg only and as some patients found it quite strong and had to decant the capsule to take less it was then made in 150mcg and 300mcg.
This is a link which is self-explanatory and testimonials can also be read:
naturalthyroidsolutions.com...
This is also the archived website since Dr Lowe's demise but there's still lots of good info to enable us to get well. He was, like many good doctors, more interested in the patients' symptoms than blood test results. He was also an Adviser to Thyroiduk.org.uk
I emailed Tammy Lowe about a year ago (the widow of Dr. Lowe's who is currently in charge of production), and she told me each 300 mg capsule of TG equals approximately 3 grains of prescription NDT. From what others have said about TG feeling quite potent, that seems to be an accurate estimate.
I would like to try TG instead of Thyroid-S (which works great but I am concerned about the long list of fillers), but I read somewhere that porcine thyroid more closely resembles human thyroid than bovine thyroid, which is why I have not gone down that road so far...but the reviews here seem very encouraging, to say the least, and Dr. Lowe seems to have been most knowledgeable about thyroid disease and treatment.
I also like the fact that TG contains very few fillers, and comes from grass-fed cows in BSE-free countries.
All the problems with prescription NDT in recent years (Armour and Naturethroid being reformulated, Erfa being problematic although company denies reformulation) have done nothing to increase my confidence in these products...
I have recently changed to thyro gold and feel better than I ever have since having rai treatment 4 1/2 years ago. I was on 100 mcg of Levothyroxine and really struggling I take 1 300mcg capsule in the morning and the change has been remarkable. My skin is back to normal, I have so much more energy I can feel muscles in my legs instead of the horrible leaden feeling I have had for years.
The lack of info about amounts of thyroxine as I understand it is because it is classed as a health supplement, so as to avoid prescriptions, they are not allowed to say. I believe the amounts in a 300 g capsule to be 100mcg of t4 and 25mcg of t3. Which I found on a link to a blog of someone who emailed Tammy Lowe.
I had no real side effects a little heart racing for a few minutes initially but nothing much and found it a little harder to get off to sleep but that seems to have worn off now. I have been taking them for a month. No weight loss yet but I am hopeful.
Adding t3 to Levothyroxine would be cheaper probably but the results have been so good that I am reluctant to change and balancing all that seems a bit of a game. Just taking the one capsule in the morning is so easy. I am having a private blood test done in a few weeks just to check all ok 😊
