Lorr67,

Hairloss is a symptom of undermedicated hypothyroidism. 50mcg is a large reduction, 25mcg increments are more usual. Have you had a thyroid blood test since dose was reduced?

Lorr67,

Normal range is very broad. TSH 0.35 and TSH 4.9 are both within normal range 0.35 - 5.0 but most people will feel well at 0.35 and very unwell with TSH 4.9. If your TSH is >1.0 you need a dose increase.

Ask your GP receptionist for a copy of your results with the ref ranges (figures in brackets after results) and post them in a new question for advice.

a sudden change in any hormone can trigger hair loss hence is what my dr said...i am battling it too and think i am slightly undermedicated and having alot of plantar facitis issues as well which has been linked in the past to need a TINY bit more hormone so even the slightest change i think may can trigger many symtpoms.....i kept thinkin mine would correct itself and hasnt yet....taking more test soon

well i have read that a ferritin of at least a 100 is required if hair is to stay on your head...and my test showed 51....hence most the time that is a result of poor digestion not absorbing vitamins from food or poor adrenals so i am taking iron glynite and

digestive enzymes to see if that helps........my thyroid test was fine so hair loss can be linked to low estrogen since estrogen keeps the hair on the head from what i read, and low ferritin iron.....bec if you have low iron it steals it from your hair for other real needs int he body...at least that is what i read ......
