How do you mess up your blood tests, Trasi? Do you have copies of them that you can share with us? Or does you doctor just do TSH? Have you seen an endo? We really need a lot more detail to be able to help you. x

Hi yes I had a copy of my results for the first time. Dr just does tsh  I'm making an appointment to see a consultant . I have never had any other tests taken they just given me an appointment for full blood test but I'm sure that's only b12 iron sugar. Thank you for your reply x

Seems to me they should be looking for an absorption problem, if you still have a TSH of 35.5 on 150 Levo. That's very high. Have you been checked for Ceoliac? Maybe your stomach acid is very low. Do you have digestion problems?

Hypo weight has nothing to do with what you eat, it's due to your low metabolism. Your T3 is bound to be low, and it's low T3 that causes symptoms like weight gain.

If your stomach acid is low, you are going to be low on nutrients, so best to test vit D, vit B12, folate and ferritin. These all need to be optimal for you body to be able to use the hormone you're giving it.

You're welcome. :) Don't forget to ask for a print-out of the results!

After being hypothyroid for fifteen years you now have to take things into your own hands.

First things first. Ask for a new blood test:-

It should be the earliest possible and don't take levo before it as it skews results. Allow about 24 hours between your last dose and the test and take levo afterwards. Also don't eat before the test although you can drink water and take levo after.

Always get a print-out of your results with the ranges (ranges are important as labs differ) as it makes it easier to comment.

If you've not recently had B12, Vit D, iron, ferritin and folate ask for these too as we are usually deficient.

Put your results on a new post for comments.
