Is it possible for test results to be wrong ? I had been feeling reasonably good for weeks, other than tired and a bit exhausted, went to my encronoligist and she wanted me to up my dose from 75 to 100 but before I did I had a test results below . My doctor called and said to go up to 100 .but since going up I feel 10 times worse

On the answer to your question.....Yes, you could have gotten bad labs, rare, but possible.

To unpack the other issues,

Did she also do full labs like Free T-3, reverse T-3? Vitamin profile?

Sometimes the brand of Levothyroxine you're taking doesn't agree. There are so many variables.

My situation was I was allergic to the synthetic versions of Levothyroxine and had to switch to NDTs, but still struggle with good and bad days, even though the dosing appears correct.

Best advice, read up, ask questions. Hopefully you and your doctor can get to the bottom and make your life easier.

My Gp won’t do the other tests I have to wait for 3 mths for those results when I go back to my encronligist

Common to feel worse, before improving

Bloods should be retested 6-8 weeks after each dose change or brand change in levothyroxine

Is the 100mcg tablet same brand as previous

ESSENTIAL to test vitamin D, folate, ferritin and B12

Have you had these tested. Please add results and ranges

Had TPO and TG thyroid antibodies tested to see if cause is autoimmune thyroid disease

Yes the brand is the same as the 75 , I have not long had all the other tests done and are all good .So it is possibly my body adjusting to the increase then ? It’s been almost 2 weeks

See many replies and posts by humanbean and SeasideSusie about iron

Look at increasing iron rich foods in your diet

Has Doctor prescribed any iron supplements?

What are B12, folate and vitamin D results

I thought that my iron was a bit low as well but doctor said it was fine , my b12 was over range taking supplements at the time and Vitamin D was 90 from what I can remember

Sounds like Australian doctors have similar poor understanding of the importance of GOOD vitamin levels

Eating iron rich foods like liver or liver pate once a week plus other red meat, pumpkin seeds and dark chocolate, plus daily orange juice or other vitamin C rich drink can help improve iron absorption

Great in-depth article on low ferritin

This is interesting because I have noticed that many patients with Hashimoto’s disease and hypothyroidism, start to feel worse when their ferritin drops below 80 and usually there is hair loss when it drops below 50.

Thyroid disease is as much about optimising vitamins as thyroid hormones

Never supplement iron without doing full iron panel test for anaemia first

I felt worse every time I increased my dose but stick with the advice on this group and give it time to work.

That gives me hope ,I just couldn’t understand how I felt reasonably well until I went up on my dose
