Can anyone please tell me the difference between Cynomel and Tiromel ? Are they the same but from different countries?
Cynomel v Tiromel: Can anyone please tell me... - Thyroid UK
Cynomel v Tiromel
Cynomel is from Mexico, Tiromel is from Turkey.
Ingredients are posted in this old post healthunlocked.com/thyroidu... you'll need to scroll down through the messages to find them.
Marigold22,
They're different brands of Liothyronine (T3). The difference will be in the fillers used in the tablets. The Mexican Cynomel is no longer produced. Tiromel is Turkish T3.
Thanks all for your help x
Cynomel is also the branding of the liothyronine produced by Sanofi (Sanofi Aventis) in France.
Are the French still manufacturing it? Do you know of a supplier? I've been taking Cynomel & would prefer to stay with it.
French Cynomel is not the same as Mexican Cynomel, they just had the same name (I mean while Mexican existed) but they are two completely different brands, like for example Cytomel and Mercury Pharma.
Quite right.
Many brand names of medicines are not owned by the same company in every country. Sometimes this is because one company has sold the rights (e.g. Eltroxin owned by GSK in north America, Aspen in "rest of the world" but MercuryPharma in the UK and Ireland).
Some countries don't even have any legal protection for such things.
