brilliant doctor at last.

so I went to see the endocrinologist today that I have been fighting to see for months. I was diagnosed hypo 6 years ago on levothroxine 100mg.

He asked me what was wrong so I handed him my notes I made with all my symptoms. tired cold constipated dizzy anxious it was a long list . I told him my doctor said I was fine because my tsh levels were OK . his first comment was I bet your doctor didn't do all the relevant tests like t4 t3 and a whole lot more. I said no he said they wasn't relevant and he wasnt allowed to test for them .his reply really made me smile....Your doctor sounds like an arse all he has to do is write on the test that he wants t3 and others tested can your doctor write ??....that is exactly what he said I totally agree I said that's why I have fought to see you . He then continued to tell me it's really hard to find a doctor now days who has a clue about thyroid conditions or who cares . He took blood and told me a list of tests he's gonna do then asked me if I wanted him to test for anything else....We are also testing gluten tolerance adrenelin fatigue, blood sugar the works. He spent ages explaining to me how everything works what he will do when results get back. He really put me at ease as I was very anxious . but best of all he has made me feel for once that I have a point that it's not just all in my head and all the doctors who have brushed me off before they were the idiots and not me. At last I feel like I have found the doctor I was looking for . xx

Hi Hidden I've just come across your post from 21 days ago and I feel so pleased that you have found an endocrinologist that listens and treats you like a human being....wow what a find!!

I am struggling at the moment and don't know what to do and would really like to see this wonder doc! Can you pm me his details I am due to see my GP and would like to ask for a referral to a decent endo.

Wishing you good luck with your results which you've probably had by now and really really hope you can get some decent treatment and get well. X

.

I'm on thyroxine but all my symptoms seem to be ok (apart from feeling tye cold very easily) but I'm struggling with weight loss so get fed up/depressed. Can an endocrinologist help with those problems do you know?

in reply to

I'm not sure..I do hope so as weight gain is another problem for me ...but I think it's worse as I have no energy to do anything so put weight on. Will see what he comes back with and let you know x

I can confirm that my GP has requested T4 & T3, but it was ignored by the lab. They're a law into themselves. If TSH is in range, they don't do it. Even when my TSH hit 11, they still didn't do them.

They appear to use a "three counts and you're out" system, hereabouts. With my third TSH increase, I got a fT4, even though the TSH had only reached 4.3 (but then I was symptomatic at 3-ish, before diagnosis). When TSH was under-range, fT3 was included, and Doc wanted to see me with the third over-range fT3. Doc told me lab would ignore request if they felt like it.

My clever GP has just managed to persuade the lab to run T3 testing, after telling me they wouldn't, they always refuse, but she would try. Unfortunately I don't know what she said to persuade them but I have kept on going back and using what I hope is informed gentle persuasion.

Hi fairydust76, do you know the official adrenal fatigue blood test abbreviation? I didn't think adrenal fatigue could be measured/tested?

in reply to cc120

He said he has to look at a few tests to determine adrenelin fatigue. think he said cortisol and thyroid tests and there was another depending on the levels of all of these can determine if I could be suffering from it x

It looks like this user has deleted his/her account (hence the "hidden" username) without letting us know who this brilliant endo is. :-(
