I took t3t4 compound thyroid - is this anything close - I am having a hard time finding a doc to prescribe what I have been taking in the US. Seems all bio-identical docs are in Bangkok. - please reply! thanks

People in the USA have reported two different things called compounded thyroid. One is Thyroid USP (desiccated thyroid) - usually put into capsules. The other is synthetic T4 and synthetic T3 - also usually in capsules.

Which one were you getting?

This is what it says on the prescription bottle - T3/T4 35mcg Avicel Caps

That sounds very much like synthetic liothyronine and levothyroxine diluted with Avicel and filled into capsules.

There are no similar UK products but there are some such as Novothyral available.

Kathybacon, Thyroid-S is Natural Dessicate Thyroid (NDT) which is derived from pig thyroid. 60mg tablet contains 38mcg T4 and 9mcg T3.

I took Armour for a week and gained 5 pounds - that is my worry. I do not want to gain weight. I have had an hysterectomy so I am constantly fighting that issue as well.

Also can I just pick this up from a pharmacy or I have to have a doctor prescribe it

A doctor won't prescribe it. You have to purchase on-line.

If you took Armour for a week and gained 5 pounds, I suggest it wasn't that fact of it being Armour but the dose.
