In Need of Advise

Hi I would like some advice, being diagnosed with underactive thyroid since 2010 and taking 100mcm of levethyroxine. I also had a partial hysterectomy three years ago, and just had a blood test as I have been feeling really tired, and unable to concentrate fully and under par, My results came back normal for my thyroid but showing I am going through the change. there was no mention of how to keep healthy and also not sure how often do you need your thyroid checked, because of the little advice they give you. any help will be appreciative, Thank you

I'm sorry you are feeling unwell. Please get a copy of your results and post them here.

Can you be more specific about symptoms? Constipation etc?

You could also ask GP to check iron/ ferritin, vit d, b 12 etc.

Hi I have asked for results and they say there was a lot of tests done and are normal with no further action and only gave me my thyroid is TSH 0.35 and T4 13.9

I feel so tired as though I want to sleep at the same time I cannot sleep because I feel restless, fed up because I cannot think straight, and I do get hot all of a sudden then it disappears quick too. but i noticed today someone was talking to me today then it because distorted as though they were in the next room it felt odd. I have had a history since 11 years of chronic constipation and have had a sacral nerve stimulator implant fitted 2012 to help the bowel to function. I did book another appointment but they cannot get me in until the 25 then I felt upset I suppose sorry for myself.

You should always ask for the ranges with results. Otherwise, no-one can interpret them. Sorry.

Oh, and it is your legal right to have a print-out of your results, no matter how many there were of them!

hi and thank you what are the ranges in the result? pardon me for not being clued up in this field, because from being diagnosed they gave me the tablet and told me to take them and it only because I dont feel my self I decided to go back to doctors but they are just a matter of fact and you feel unable to ask anything else , because of taking to much of their time.

Well, I Don't know what the ranges are, because you haven't got them.

You'll have to ask for them. And, Don't worry about taking up too much of their time! You are a patient, and they are supposed to be making you better. That's their job. If they're not doing it, then they need to be pushed into doing it. People need to have things explained to them, not just have a tablet shoved down their throats! You are as much entitled to their time as any other patient. What else are they going to do with their time? lol
