In need of support today.

For the past few days I have suffered terrible tension headaches (don’t normally suffer with those) and my neck stiffness has returned again!

It feels so tight at the back of my neck, I’m shaky, and don’t feel earthed and I can’t stop crying.

I was on a high not so long ago, I feel so depressed now, it’s like I can’t see an end to this thyroid business.

I’m on 100 mcg of Levothyroxine and I have a blood test next Monday at 8am to see how my thyroid is, I hope to god it will show something!!!

I feel like I want to drill a hole in my head to relieve the pressure.

I’ve been sat at home with ice pack around my neck to relieve the stiffness which helps, but, as soon as I take them away it comes back.

How does everyone cope with those dark days.

I thought I was doing well on Levothyroxine then bang I’ve gone right down hill again.

Temperature dropping in the mornings and still so tired in the mornings.

I need some words of encouragement😥

Best Wishes

Stick with it Peanut 31. Necks are areas of the body that pick up on stress so can I suggest that you try a ‘cold towel’ (look them up they are brilliant and I am living under my 3 since it got hot) or ice pack to lie on? If you take the weight off the joints and muscles they can often be more comfortable. From my experience if you can get comfortable lying it is often best to include short rests lying about 20 minutes at a time throughout the day.

I use a partuclarly play list or an unchallenging audiotape to keep me lying still for a set period.

Hope things improve.

Thanks for your reply, it’s greatly appreciated.

I’m bloody sick of it, it’s a waiting game I know, but I’m either high or rock bottom low.

I wish there was a thyroid support hotline we could call to vent our frustrations, or gain support.

Best wishes

Hotline is a brilliant idea!

I'm suffering exact same symptoms right now. So, I really empathise. Though, like you, have no answers. I'm trying to just accept a day at a time, hoping for improvement.

I saw GP last week and he was willing (of course), to prescribe antidepressants. (I have been tearful for a few weeks). I ask which ones. He told me. I asked aren't those counter productive to levothyroxine. He replied all antidepressants are! I declined offer and left.

I have just been given 100mcg levothyroxine alternative days 75mcg alternative days. Tomorrow to start 100mcg daily, (im desperate, so took 100mcg today, officially on 100 now! Lol). Retest bloods 3 months!

Endo put me on 75mcg maintenance dose last 6 months, after thyroiditis autoimmune crises. Previously I had been on 125mcg for years, then a stint of metavive for 6 months or so..

My symptoms are just as you say, exploding, pressure head. (I've taken paracetamol, then 2 migraleve today, so far). Severe neck pain. Aching shoulder, arm, back. Eyes sore. Nasal drip.... (ive taken piriton today, I normally avoid meds at all costs), it's awful, isn't it?

I can't tolerate this very hot weather nor bright sunlight.. legs and feet feel chilly, temperature hour ago 35.7.

If only one doctor could get our med dose sorted. I would be a happy woman.

I be thinking of you. Please know your not alone.

Thanks soooooo much for your reply, even I’m getting sick of myself now!!!!.

Reference the hotline, no one would get through as I would be on it constantly!!!.

What ever you do don’t take the anti depressants, like you have said they don’t suit Thyroid patients.

My Endocrinologist tried to fob me off with those and I told him I was depressed because of this thyroid business. Flaming idiot.

I’ve been advised to take paracetamol and ibuprofen together to help the pain, so I’ll try that.

I’ve just get to ride it out until my blood test Monday, I don’t wait long for the results either.

I don’t mind the sun as I too feel the cold, but it’s not ideal when you have a headache to be sat in it.

Best wishes

Thank you. No. I wouldn't take the antidepressants. Call me old fashioned but depression is a natural response to being pressed! For too long! I then tally agree, it s the flower get to get proper treatment for thyroid that causes the symptoms of depression!!!

Just to be listened to, with Drs perceptions hat so many women are depressed, would just be so nice.

One day, I hope we can buy our own meds at a reasonable cost, and pay reasonable price for blood tests indicating what best drug to help...

Ah, one day!

Hot line? Well, I use POD (patient on demand --- telephone ordering prescription service). Like you say, I thought oh, its going to be ages getting through... alas, I get straight through! They very helpful. Organise everything. Downside? Oh, the noise of other telephone operators in background.. yikes! I really should use POD online but I want to ensure I get heard and prescription correct!

Ah, one day!

Yes I have ordered some T3 and I am waiting for it to turn up.

There is no point adding T3 until my TSH reaches 1 then I will be able to see if I am converting well and I will get the true picture. My blood test is due on Monday and I get the results a few days after this.

Best wishes

Your previous results show borderline conversion difficulties. Conversion efficiency to T3 will drop as TSH drops. And I think that you can tell by how you feel that things are not as they should be. Good luck...I hope your T3 arrives and makes a difference.

Thanks so much for you reply.

I was told that I was converting well!!, thanks for pointing this out.

I’ve ordered 25mcg of T3 I was going to cut it into 4’s and just add a small amount each morning.

I’ve never wanted something to arrive so much. It’s like Christmas waiting for a special present.

I feel awful I got to work today and just sat crying, my neck is as stiff as a board, I’m exhausted.

I forgot my mobile phone and I’ve missed loads of telephone calls and emails.

I’ve had to leave work early as I felt like a zombie.

Luckily I work for my family so they have been understanding.

My poor mum has been in tears because she can’t fix me, I’m a workaholic so she knows I’m not well.

I’m in a right state at the moment.

Best wishes

Sorry to hear that you are not feeling well. It is not entirely shocking though, as some of us just do not do well on T4 only. I thought at one point you were contemplating NDT or adding T3? Have you been going down the increasing levo path, because if you do not convert well this can exacerbate your symptoms.
