I am getting mighty miffed off with these horrible symptoms and constantly being rushed to hospital over this condition too.

Er that's not really possible sorry. Dr Peatfield book says 3 g vitamin C per day and so do others so that seems to be the consensus. Everyone also agrees that your blood level of vitamin D 3 should be at least 80 and most people can take 800iiU a day but at least one person on here had a very bad reaction so take care and don't buy cheap. A good quality female or male vitamin on top if these should be fine to start.

Why do you get rushed in to hospital?

3 g of vitamin c? wow

Apparently it is the requirement in order to be able to absorb everything else. And you can't have too much you should just wee it out if you had too much.

Quite how much can we take in and then wee out in a day without having any adverse effects? Even in those with kidney disease?

Many people might tolerate 3 grams of vitamin C quite well, but it doesn't follow that it is needed, nor that everyone can.

What are your blood tests results for Ferritin - Iron - Folate - B12 - VitD ?

Apologies if you have posted them - am in a rush !

WADWM,

There is very good informative advice in the link below.

It is not recommended to supplement large doses of anything without testing levels beforehand.

Vit B12, Vit D, folate and ferritin are vital for nutrient and thyroid meds absorbtion.

Selenium and zinc will help convert T4-T3.

I wonder why Magnesium doesn't feature in Dr Arem's list?

in reply to Chrys

Chrys,

I haven't read Dr Arems book or seen the list but the link I provided states..

.... .[.. Magnesium is required for the conversion of T4 into T3 so this mineral should be supplemented.

Dr. Magovern tells us that some people lose Magnesium at a great rate through urination. Also it seems that a diet high in refined food and caffeine will encourage magnesium loss....]....

I agree that magnesium is hugely important.

Thanks, I suspect it was omitted by accident from the list at the bottom of that link.

Chrys - Magnesium resides in the cells so testing the amount in the blood is futile. Just assume you are low and either supplement or use a spray. You may wish to do some research to establish the best sort of magnesium - one your body readily recognises....

What you have to do is get an ECG, just to check your heart is fine and it could be either the dose you are taking is maybe a little too much, or the fillers/binders in your medication you might be sensitive to which is the cause.I always had clear ECGs but my heart didn't seem to be aware of that :) In. the end when some T3 was added it calmed my heart

whineandiodinewithme,

If you went and bought the appropriate supplements to give yourself a maximum dose of every vitamin and mineral, and took them, you could make yourself very ill indeed.

For example, without knowing you need it, taking a signficiant amount of iron can lead to iron overload - very unpleasant. Vitamin B6 is something that appears to have quite a high tolerance, but some people are sensitive to small excesses of it - potentially causing neuropathy.

A more considered and cautious approach is needed.

Some vitamins are water soluble so if you take too much of them, it does not really matter, you just wee them out! But some are fat soluble like vit d, gets stores in body fat and too much leads to toxicity.

Not quite true:

Although it is a water-soluble vitamin and is excreted in the urine, doses of pyridoxine in excess of the RDI over long periods of time result in painful and ultimately irreversible neurological problems.

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vitam...

(Wiki was just a quick reference, there are many others.)

Last time I got my Vit D tested, it was 126 I know the low range is 50 and no idea the max. My cortisol was 636... I know its high but no idea the normal range.

My iron levels were high but have dropped and now at optimal levels.

everything else is mix between mid way and low.

ok has anyone got a website they can show me? I just wanted to know the max dose of vitamins to take not a whole bunch babble lol

Sorry - every decent website I know that might have many "maximum doses" also contains other information. Much of it is important and needs to be read and understood.
