Normal? Normal for who? Sorry but you need the actual numbers. Normal is an opinion, not a result.

If you really want to know where you stand you might be best having a look at getting a full thyroid profile, along vith iron, b12 and bit d.

Deatils of private testing, where you deal directly with the lab yourself on the homepage at thyroiduk.org.uk

As Galathea said - there is no such thing as normal when it comes to blood test results. What is normal for me may not be normal for you. In order to comment we need to see the numbers eg: - TSH 4.5 - Range 0.5 - 5.0. Doctors like to say normal as everyone wants to be normal - now do you feel normal ?

TSH is meaningless on its own. Mine never got outside of range & I was almost dead. There is no such thing as normal

Also, there should be a range for your antibodies. I can't tell if they are within or outside range. The ranges differ depending on the test type.

Welcome to the forum, Asidney.

TSH 0.35-6.0 is normal but people generally feel well 0.35-2.0 and very unwell 4.0-6.0 which is why we ask what your TSH result is.

Ah ok thanks guys.. My TSH is 1.05 and the normal range for Antibodies is 0-60 apparently. I am just very confused because all I get told is they are normal! Then left again feeling ill. Just wondered if anyone else who knows about thyriod could help.

My symptoms are; severe fatique, joint pain, muscle aches, lump feeling in throat, cold all the time, low mood, loss of sex drive, carpel tunnel (not sure if related) dry skin, constipation and a gluten intolerance/ IBS symptoms. My GP thought it was celiac so I had full investigations and biospys told I had IBS and gluten intolerance and fatigue improved a little but steadily the symptoms are returning and now worse than ever. This has been over 2 years xx

Well your symptoms certainly sound like hypothyroidism. The fact that your tsh is normal might mean your putuary doesnt want to work.. Or it could be that you have a faulty igsf1 gene... mcgill.ca/channels/news/new...

Really you need to find out what your readings are for free t3 and free t4.

It does sound as if you have clinical symptoms of hypo. If you have a copy of your full blood test with the ranges, not just the TSH, it will enable more responses. Doctors only take account of the TSH and diagnose upon it. The guidelines say to wait till it reaches 10 before diagnosing and many of us feel quite unwell with a TSH much lower.

If you've not had a recent blood test ask for a new one. Make the appointment as early as possible and fast (you can drink water). If/when you take levo or other thyroid hormones leave about 24 hours between the last dose and the test. Also ask for Vitamin B12, Vit D, iron, ferritin and folate too.

O.K. ask surgery for a print-out of your results, with the ranges, for your own records and so that you can post them on a new question for comments.

Asidney, TSH 1.1 is low-normal, which is good. Unfortunately TSH can be good but T4 and T3 levels may be low. It's unlikely you'll persuade your GP to test FT4 and FT3 when TSH is good but it is worth you ordering a private thyroid test from Blue Horizon or Genova via thyroiduk.org.uk/tuk/testin... and checking for yourself.

As you have gluten-intolerance you should make sure your diet is 100% gluten-free. Gluten and IBS cause malabsorption of nutrients so ask your GP to test ferritin, vitamin D, B12 and folate. Low/deficient levels can cause hairloss, musculoskeletal pain, fatigue and low mood.

Feeling so awful today. Tonight I'm so tearful because I can't do the things I normally do anymore because of my exhaustion and feeling unwell. 😞 Doctors on Thursday so hopefully I will get somewhere X
