Brazil nuts full of selenium are one of them, and I love my Nuts, I take 4 a day, have done for a couple of years, we need selenium to help convert T4 to T3. So here is yet another interesting article:-

Here are the ways to get rid of sodium fluoride in your body.
...yes Brazil nuts are a good source of Selenium - but only if they were grown in Selenium rich soil I have read I should supplement to be on the safe side.....
I know that Brazil nuts are not uniform in their selenium content, but average about 50mcg per nut. I eat 4 per day, that will be sufficient, and supplements are not in anyway as good as the actual content in real food.
I also have just read today, that taking zinc and vitamin C at the same time as selenium in any form, will reduce it's absorption into the body. I do take zinc around the same time, but never supplement with vitamin C, so I will take my zinc, normally 4 hours later will be sufficient, as is the same with my iron, always a long way away from my T4, which I take last thing at night anyway, and all supplements first thing in the morning.
Only if tolerated Zinc is best taken on an empty stomach as Phytate, which is present in staple foods like cereals, corn, rice, legumes, nuts and seeds has a strong negative effect on zinc absorption.
Phytates bind to certain dietary minerals including iron, zinc, manganese and, to a lesser extent calcium, and slow their absorption.

Yes Marz, I think I OD'd once on them, believing I was doing myself good!
Yes, langdocienne, it is said to be difficult to gauge the level of selenium in each nut but I still do eat a couple each or ever other day and supplement also. Thank you for the other detail.
Supplementing with Vit C is often essential for those of us with an adrenal issue, we take this 'up to tolerance'.
