Hi,still very new to this forum and in awe of the wealth of sound, reassuring and positive advice.

Started 1/4 grain Armour this January, brilliant no longer housebound (no need to explain to many many of you how immense that feeling of being able to move a bit feels- no marathons planned ! ) 3months in upped it to 1/4 grain under tongue twice a day, four weeks later got the jitters and hard to describe sensation inside and out of body, no racing pulse 60-70 , temp up nicely from 35 to 36,TSH came down,FT3 up; but wary/scared stopped for 1 month, felt lousy again very quickly all hypo Hashi symptoms back.

Started again with 1/4grain Armour May- September then upped it again mid September to 1/4grain under tongue twice a day by 2pm, and since that double dosing of am experiencing extra aches in the inside of my arms, tight neck ache ,and calves.

My first concern when we think of inside of arms pain is heart, that said since increased dose my heart palpitations and weird heart reactions in sleeptime are vastly improved. I am 8 stone, good cholesterol, good blood sugars, lousy diet due to complex malabsorption problems but improving via Armour and digestive enzymes. Vitamin D up, B12 up, Ferritin very low on the cusp, hindered by not being able to tolerate iron supps + cant digest meat. Cortisol/Dhea bit iffy and BP always on the low side eg today - Sitting 96/64 p75 Standing 110/66 p79

3mins later- Sitting 109/64 Standing 96/66 p77

I was always fit and active, till 6 years ago, averaging 16 hour physically active day,Hashi's reduced this to a 2hour day, down to housebound.

So for those of you out there who like me were told this is it, this is your life from now on, please please dont believe it. There was a way in , there is a way out. I have a long way to go ,but there is a light.

My reluctance to increase the Armour sooner even though i know i need to, is purely that i cant cool down after any exertion, movement, eating, and with the higher outside temperatures this summer i was gasping.

Has anyone had similar aches with dose increase ? Dr Lowe mentions increasing meds if not enough cortisol is not available creates problems. I struggle with the glandulars, anyone tried the porcine ones with success, if so could you recommend a brand please ?

Best wishes to all

Hi,

Did you only 1/4 tablet only of Armour or did you add it to an amount of levothyroxine?

Yes only on Armour, never tried anything else, not allowed as TSH was in range occasionally 4.5 despite rising TPO's and truly appalling gut symptoms, just left to fend for myself. So i decided to take control of my life, saw Dr P and opted for Armour as i react to so many things, thought it would be the most gentle, most natural.

Started new pot of 1/4 Armour this morning, 30 mins in, my head was weird, felt very dizzy for a couple of hours, its settled now, but leaving out second dose today. Dont know if im reacting to fillers (which are no diff to previous bottle) or natural discrepency in T3 from batch to batch, but thats how sensitive i am- nightmare !

Maybe you could try Nature-throid or WP Thyroid both by the same company and both hypoallergenic.

Re switching brands, is it best to stop one day and start the new brand the next day ? Or have most found its better to leave a few days break from one to another ?

You can just do a straight switchoever from one to another.

Thank you for you replies, yes was wondering about those, do you know what the difference between the two products is ? when i was researching NDT last year I emailed the company a couple of times without response. Just wanted to know what the fillers were etc. am GF /DF

You will find all the fillers on this ThyroidUK page

thyroiduk.org.uk/tuk/treatm...

For NDT click on the purple bar saying 'Non-Uk dessicated thyroid (aka NDT)' and it pulls down to details of the different brands of NDT.

Hope that helps you.
