I have been taking 1 grain Armour Thyroid and sometimes 1/2 grain at midday but want to revert to Metavive 11. What is the equivalent dose of Metavive to 1 grain Armour? Could someone please enlighten me on this?

Converting from Armour Thyroid back to Metavive 11
Topaz, metavive is labelled as a food supplement so it can be sold without prescription. As a food supplement it has no declared levels of t4 and t3. This makes it hard to quantify any equivalence.
Hello Topaz :
Since we have no way of knowing the T3 and T4 content in the supplement it's pretty much a trial and error switch over.
Can you remember how to you first switched over to Armour and simply repeat the process but in reverse ?
Armour 1 grain is said to contain a measure of T3 x 9mcg and a measure of T4 x 38 mcg.
Thank you for that information pennyannie. No I cant remember how I switched to Armour! I think I will have to do the temperature method/how I feel advised by Dr Myhill.
Good idea that is how I self medicated up on NDT - blood pressure/ pulse and temperature twice daily :
I'm sorry the NDT isn't suiting you - and read many get on very well with the OTC supplements - I guess everyone to their own :
Just a shame the NHS are so rigid with their understanding and guidelines - mind you I haven't been back to the doctor some 5 years now as there is no point if I want to remain as well as I am.
I was on 1 1/2 NDT and had to stop due to additives and costs from America. I went back to Metavive and found that 3 Metavive 11 was roughly the same as 1 1/2 grains of NDT. Hope that helps - I had it work it out via monitoring symptoms but I got there in the end.
Thank you Nico101 for that information. I am going to monitor symptoms/how I feel to find the right dose but it is good to know that 1 1/2g NDT equates to about 3 Metavive II.
How do you feel on Metavive? I assume you are on the reformulated version (with nucleotides)? Did you take it before the reformlation and, if so , did you notice any difference?
Hi I am on the reformulated Metavive. I have been taking it for a long time so probably I was on the old formulation. To be honest I have so much going on at the moment - I;ve had a big op and am waiting for chemo to start that I couldnt tell you if there is any difference. Sorry I cant be of any help!!
I read that the new version has been around since the summer of 2020 so you probably have been on it for several years now.
Fingers crossed everything goes well!
