Re-re-formulated Armour...?

So is there general consensus among Armour users that it has been reformulated a second time; not going back to what it was pre-2009, but better than it was right after the first, unappreciated 2009 reformulation...?

I have to admit I never understood why Forest refused to communicate with customers/users after the 2009 reformulation which, it seems, set many patients back to square one...I understand Armour is now owned and manufactured by Actavis? What is their approach? More patient-friendly...?

Actually, it would be nice to know why Forest chose to reformulate Armour in the first place, when most patients seemed to do great on it as it was?!?!?

thecat346, again, you may get more responses to your question on STTM or other US sites.

Cat.. the reason Armour gave at the time for the reformulation was that they were removing the sugar/dextrose from Armour in consideration for their diabetic patients. Yeah.... puleeeeze. That was such a crock.

That reformulation and the world wide shortage of natural desiccated thyroid at the time sent me scrambling for an alternative and I started ordering Erfa from Canada. The old Erfa was lovely and just like the old Armour. This was 2009/2010.

I now take WP by RLC Labs since Erfa changed their mfg facilities and some aren't doing well on various lots/batches of Erfa.

Just from the chatter, it seems a lot of folks are doing well on Armour, especially the smaller dosage tabs.... 30 mg/60 mg. If I had to take Armour, I would insist on getting the 30 mg tabs regardless of the size of my daily dosage.

It would be interesting to find out one day if Erfa did indeed reformulate their pills...so far, as I know, they keep insisting nothing changed but the mfg facility...

anna... You are absolutely correct. In spite of and in the face of numerous complaints about Erfa, the powers that be insist that nothing has changed. On the STTM website, they show pictures of the 'old' Erfa and the 'new' Erfa side by side and there are differences.

'They' say the formulation hasn't changed but we all know that different additives can make a huge difference in how folks respond to the main ingredients. I doubt they will ever own up to or admit any changes. Sometimes it feels like there is an undeclared war on thyroid sufferers. Getting well and getting treatment just shouldn't be this hard, ya know?

I couldn't agree more! Thyroid sufferers have other, and more important things, on their minds than fighting drug companies...!

Just imagine for a second that this was how they treated drugs like cancer drugs, or infertility drugs, or heart and blood pressure medication...and I bet we'd have a revolution on our hands in no time!

lol.. good point, anna. Completely agree.

But it is hard not to be a little bit conspiratorial when you look around and see our food is crap, our water is poisoned as well as our soil. But don't get me started on cancer drugs. In the USA, they won't even think about alternatives having any value. Gosh..... if cancer got wiped out or even manageable, there go billions and billions of dollars in profits to Big Medicine and Big Pharma, don'tcha know.
