Recent Armour batch doesn't work

Hi Folks,

Anyone having issues with Armour?

Clearly a reformulation;

Pic on right - works, fatter tablet.

Left - Doesn't work, smaller profile - causes huge brain fog and return of symptoms.

Why do they have to keep messing about! 🤬

nagasakih2o, Is there any change in the ingredients if you compare the two lists?

And did you get them both from the same source?

Same source/ingredients- genuine pharmacy.

They taste different too.

I'm really running out of options again - Levo simply causes too much muscle/joint pain. Even with T3 added.

I would contact the pharmacy with your concerns. They may be able to do some sort of report (like our UK Yellow Card system)

The fatter ones look less professionally made. The product number is the same on both pots so should be the same ingredients. Both from the same supplier?

Yes, both from a legitimate pharmacy. The tablet on the right is a little worn due to bouncing about in the pot.

Have you contacted the supplier ? Fake drugs have been supplied to pharmacies in the U.K. so no one immune to fakery.

I will raise my concern for sure - but the cost of Armour, I need to find an alternative.

Thyroid S ?

Armour was the first one I used, until it changed. Wish they would just stick to the same formulation.

Tried that - purchased a bottle in Krabi Thailand back in February this year. It doesn't work for me.

The best so far was NP before the reformulation/recall. I never felt so amazing.

I just can't understand what goes wrong when they have such a great product and it goes down the pan.

I am told Thyroid S changed this year too. I am still taking last years, so not looking forward to needing a new supply ! You might have the changed version.

I liked Nature tyroid and TMan. Now both discontinues. What will you try next?

I stopped using Thyroid S as it's got 3 different Aluminiums in it and talcum powder....

I don't know, if you are in UK or US, but if in US - NP thyroid--it is generic for Armour, but that is about it for NDT since Nature-throid recalled their NDT

Interesting! NP seemed a good bit cheaper too.

The old formulation was so good.

Ridiculous....Now I wonder if it's worth spending £200 on an Endo consult so my own GP can prescribe it ? At present am on Thyrovanz NZ ( tired of guesstimating 1/2 a dose for the afternoon and hoped to have Armour on NHS ( only 30mg + 15 mg ) ....Stopped using Erfa but was also fed up cutting the 30 mg into half ( very difficult and most often not accurate)

nagasakih2o in reply toValeriu

How have you found NZ and erfa? Do they work?

Valeriu profile image
Valeriu in reply tonagasakih2o

Thyrovanz NZ from US ; ( A New Zealand product) and Erfa via Private prescription from [redacted doctor name] of Stratford Dermatology clinic....they're very similar ; Erfa slightly better but £88 per bottle plus shipping....Thurovanz much cheaper ( at around £20 per bottle but 90 capsules in it ) ....Link for Thyrovanz: thyroidsupplements.com/purc...

I paid £150 for armour - and to feel this ill on it, I would rather take nothing.

Very sorry to hear The Thyrovanz NZ will help ...as will Erfa ( contact [redacted doctor name] / will send you details if you wish ? ) he does a consult first then for years your free and he prescribes 4 Erfa's on a prescription ( £25) Good luck :)

Haven't got the new batch yet, still on the older ones. Have you done labwork to see if anything has changed? How long have you been taking the new batch? You may just have to tweak the dose a little, going up/down, adding t4 or t3 into the mix to level it out. I know, not ideal..

nagasakih2o profile image
nagasakih2o in reply toIncoguto

It happened within a week of moving over from the older batch - progressively getting worse. Same dose, same supplier, no diet changes etc.

No point in doing any labs when you're that fogged up. It literally clears within 2 days of stopping so 100% the cause for me.

Tried an increase but that brings on palpitations.

See how you get on, you may be able to tolerate it.

May I suggest you try grinding the (new) tablets up? Whether between your teeth or in a pestle and mortar (or similar).

My thought being that if the tablets have been manufactured such that they are not disintegrating as well as usual, that could explain what is happening. The ingredients might be the same. The lab testing might show the same potency. Indeed, for some patients, the effects might be the same. But for others, not.

Obviously vital to ensure that no ground tablet is lost.

Many people over the years have advocated 'chewing' their NDT tablets rather than just swallowing immediately, so this makes a lot of sense.

nagasakih2o profile image
nagasakih2o in reply toRedApple

I chew all my tablets, whether it be levo or NDT.

Blood work proves it works and you can even reduce dosage not having to digest.

I always struggled to raise levels swallowing, not anymore.

Me too. I started when I first took Armour, and have done it with all variants of thyroid meds ever since. Force of habit now after so many years :)
