I'm currently self medicating with Nature a Thyroid, so far, so great, however, I've been taking my HRT at night, I thought I read that HRT hormone can interfere with NDT, I don't think this is suiting me, because I seem to be sweating profusely. I'm on estrogen only, due to hysterectomy , does anyone know if it's the progesterone which affects it, I'm going to have to go back to HRT in the morning to see if this helps with the sweating , I have an appt to see my GP, but I think she thinks I'm crazy for self medicating ! I have HRT in gel form. I think I'll get the " well, we don't know what effect this NDT will have on you, you must go back on Levo ". I can't go back to the dark side. No.
Thanks for any help. Xxx

123Happy, oestrogen should be taken 4 hours away from thyroid replacement but topical forms of HRT are less likely to affect thyroid hormone replacement uptake and absorptionthan oral HRT. If it does, it won't make any difference whether you are taking NDT or Levothyroxine.
Could you take your NDT later in the day, 4 hours away from the HRT gel?
I take my NDT first thing 7am then 2nd dose at 1pm, I will go back to gel in the morning , thanks for your help, I was putting it on at night, my heart rate and BP are spot on, I don't think I'm over medicated, I'm not anxious or anything, just sweaty, I mean I could keep two mackerel alive, in my armpits ! It's not fun, I will give it another go, I will still see my GP, she had to grudgingly admit, the difference in me is profound, since I've been on NDT.
I guess it may be due to too much estrogen. I have no thyroid so I have to take high dosage of thyroid hormone. NDT seem to increase estrogen which increases cortisol. I sweat like you with fever and too much estrogen makes your liver hard to detoxify and can cause gallstone according to what I read.
