Hi, I wrote a couple of weeks ago about exercising and the amount of fatigue I was experiencing. I'm feeling better than I was, sleeping a lot and still feeling pretty tired. My results are in:
MAY 2015
TSH 0.19 (0.2-4.2)
Free T4 16.5 (12-22)
Free T3 4.8 (3.95-6.8)
Ferritin 32 (13-150)
B12 597 (197-866)
Serum Folates 8.4 (4.6-18.7)
I am due to see GP in a couple of weeks time.
Any thoughts on new results would be great. Thank you in advance

Ooh, that ferritin is low. Are you losing hair? Best level is to be over 70... I wonder if your iron levels are low too..... Did the doc bother to do them?
If you are on thyroid meds, then really would expect to see free t4 at top of, or just over range.... This would increase the free t3. There is room for a dose increase.
I'm on 100mcg of Levo T4. So an increase to 125mcg would be the next one up. It's the lowest my TSH has ever been, although I realise that isn't necessarily the indicator to look at.
I'm not losing hair fortunately, but I am very tired. Could you recommend a good iron supplement? I've just started taking a Vitamin B complex which includes some folate, as that looks pretty low too.
it is possible that you may not be converting your t4 med, to t3 very well. You actually can have normal looking free's, but have a high reverse t3 level. It happens to me. If i were to have my ft4 level at the top of the range, my reverse t3 would be over range. Reverse t3 that is high, pretty much stops thyroid hormones from working.
After looking again at your labs, for what they are worth, i would say you could add more t4 and see what happens or add t3 and either leave the t4 where it is or lower it. It is all trial and error and sometimes it can take years to find the right dose. T4 just doesn't work unless it is converted into the active form, which is t3. So many things make conversion bad or low, this is why many do well with t3 added. Many on this forum don't do well on t4 alone.
