Had my Endocrinologist appointment on Tuesday and was told that if I continue with my own medication (self medicating on thyroid S). I will no longer be able to attend their clinic or be treated by them
If I return to a T4/T3 regime then my care will be continued.
Smacks of complete and utter blackmail?

Well if they are not prescribing you meds, what are they actually doing for you apart from wasting your time and stressing you out? Maybe you will be better off without them?
Hh46, Most doctors aren't taught about NDT and if they've heard of it have been indoctrinated that it is dangerous and unstable. I don't think it's unreasonable to refuse to see a patient who is using drugs the doctor doesn't trust instead of the doctor's treatment plan.
NDT is T4+T3 so your blood results won't *say* you are taking Thyroid-S rather than Levothyroxine and Liothyronine combination, but if the real objection is that the dose you are taking is suppressing your TSH, you'll have to decide whether to continue self medicating or seeing the endocrinologist.
That's what I do, I pick up my prescription for levy and chuck it! giggle.
My lab/doctor will only test TSH in any event so doesn't tell me diddly squat...x
I had a routine TFT in cardiology outpatients to see if lack of treatment was adding to my fatigue.
The results never came through to GP but during a consult at GP with a visiting hospital trainee doing her GP stint, she got into hospital records and told me that even though my TSH was almost suppressed, my T4 was too low showing that I was still hypo.
She arranged a further TFT blood test, and yes again, the lab based on a low TSH stated that 'as TSH is in normal range, it is ASSUMED that the patient has sufficient amount of T4' so no further treatment required. What a load of boll***s.
Yep I was told exactly the same thing. I searched this forum and found a more tolerant endo then asked my GP to refer me to them for a second opinion. Every one has a right to a second opinion in the NHS. Good luck.
I found the one I wanted to go to from someone posting on here. It was further to travel. I then went to my gp and had an honest conversation about wanting to see an Endo who understands NDT which my gp doesn't. So she agreed to refer me. If you look up nhs second opinion you will see that everyone is entitled to ask if they are not happy. Explain how ill you would be on t4 only and explain how ndt works better for you so you are not happy with the advice from your endo.
Your TSH may also be suppressed or Inaccurate due to pituatry auto immune disease! However getting a nhs doctor to afford you blood test for this I have found impossible, I wonder sometimes if GPs rely on TSH to monitor hypothyroidism what the rest of us ( up to 40% with Hashimotos that are also effected by pituatry autoimmune disease) are meant to do other than self medicate!
