i have a number of readings and wanted to understand them. The original one was for antibodies dated 27/9/2006.

Thyroid peroxidase antibody level High

Original result : "Anti-TPO Antibody" =130 IU/ml(<50)

Anti -TPOreference ranges

<50IU/Normal

50-75IU/ml Borderline

>75IU/ml elevated.

I have other results and will post those separately as I need a question answered on this first.

The fact it looks like I have a high reading, would this classify as me having hashemoto thyroid disease or is this straightforward thyroid not working?

Many thanks for your help in advance.

Hello Crwbin1,

When high enough TPO antibodies will attack the thyroid.

The higher the count the higher the probability of becoming hypothyroid as the gland eventually stops working. This is known as Hashimoto Thyroiditis and is prevalent in people who suffer from hypothyroidism.

Do you feel ill? Have you had recent thyroid hormone blood tests?

If so post the results with ranges (numbers in brackets) for people to comment.
