Found out a colleague has been hypo for years & at times been very ill.. Passed on the info that Ive learned here from everyone else.. She is now booked in for more than a TSH test.. She had no clue all her vitamins or anything else would be affected by hypo... Bizarre illnesses she now knows is caused by her hypothyroidism..

Well done, Rudegirl. Will your colleague be joining the forum?

I think so .. I've told her how I learned, she was shocked that she didn't know anything of her illness.. She asked her gp about t3 & was told it's too expensive to prescribe For her! :-/

Rudegirl, standard response since GP's started bean counting rather than getting their patients well :x

I've directed several people to this forum. I used to be one of those people who trusted doctors to look after me, and was beginning to wonder if I had lost the plot as I was still so unwell but apparently there was "nothing wrong." Some of it is just basic knowledge, and I feel cross that there are so many poorly people out there who are still struggling, oblivious to the fact that they're just not being cared for by their GPs.

The worst thing of all is.. Disappointment when you're told you're fine & well... Everyone else is delighted to hear that.. Not us!!!

It isn't funny at all, but I actually like being told that I've got something else - it kind of proves that it isn't stuff I've imagined, made up or "caused by stress".
