Doc says that on nhs the only replacement tgey will prescribe is levothyroxine. Does anyone on nhs get anything else? Do you pay privately for something else?
I'm sick of not feeling well.
Becca, You are a little undermedicated with TSH 2.35. Most people are comfortable with TSH just above or below 1.0 and FT4 in or towards the top 75% of range. Read the comments Dr. Toft made to Pulse Online re dosing and levels in the link below. Email louise.warvill@thyroiduk.org.uk if you want a copy of the full article to show your GP when you ask for a dose increase.

Levothyroxine is the recommended treatment for hypothyroidism. When you are optimally dosed it is likely that Levothyroxine will resolve your symptoms. Liothyronine (T3) is also available on the NHS but often requires recommendation from an endocrinologist before GPs will prescribe it. NDT (dessicated pig thyroid) is available on a named patient basis but GPs aren't obliged to prescribe it and most forum members buy it privately on the internet.
Hypothyroid patients are often deficient/low in ferritin, vitamin D, B12 and folate and this can cause musculoskeletal pain, fatigue and low mood. Ask your GP to do blood tests and post the results with the lab ref ranges (the figures in brackets after your results) in a new question and members will advise whether you need to supplement.
Thank you very much for your reply. I shall read that and get a copy for doc.
I think she is sending me to endo. She wasn't going to but seems to have changed her mind.
I am waiting for vitd to come back. Ferretin was ok but I didn't get her to print it out. B12 not been done recently but has been 'ok' in the past.
