Hi, Two weeks ago I went to the nurse at my GP surgery to get yearly blood tests for Ferritin, Folate, B12 and Vit D. I said not to bother with thyroid function tests as they don't do FT3 and I need that to monitor myself ( I self medicate NDT). Anyway she went ahead and did the Thyroid test which came back with a high TT3 ( I had taken NDT two hours before) and my GP wants to see me about it, as you would expect. I have a finger prick test kit from BH to do so that I can get a true reading and also have the FT3 result, then I can go and tell him that everything is ok. My question is this....... I have been feeling very well lately but I am now having a damn flare up ( I have hashis) will this give me a high Thyroid test reading, should I wait until it passes befor I do the test?

Saorsun, If you do your own home test you will be able to get a FT3 reading without NDT peaking in your serum whether or not Hashi's has affected bloods in either test. My symptoms were spiralling hyper and hypo but were not reflected in FT3 4.8 (3.5-6.5). Other members have found Hashi flares significantly affect bloods.
