Armour compared to Nature-Throid?

As far I know, NT was reformulated shortly after Armour, but is still considered a good drug given the number of positive reviews both here and elsewhere.

I'd be interested to hear form those of you who have tried both Armour and Nature-Throid since the reformulation; did you feel that NT was more effective?

I have been thinking about trying to find a pharmacy willing to substitute Armour for Nature-Throid, but I'd first like to hear from patients with first-hand experience of both.

I am currently on Erfa, but seem to need a lot (8 grains = 4x125 mg pills).

Thanks.

Anna

I haven't taken Armour but Erfa as well as Nature-Throid. I preferred Nature-throid.

I feel better on Nature Throid. I can't quite put my finger on what it was, but Armour didn't suit me as well.

But in all honesty, I don't think you can use our experiences as a guide. Different formulations of NDT suit different people. You'll probably get quite a range of replies!

Hi I have used all 3 and find the N.T better and cheaper. You would need a specific script in the uK.

Hi Jackie I am now on Nature Throid and started just over a week ago. Started on 1 grain after one week now on 1 1/2 grains. I was on 75/100 T4 and T3 20mcgs. What would you say was the correct dosage round about please?

Hi Some people are on the basic 2 grains. I need more but I would not go up from 2 grains without a test for TSH, T4 and FT3. I take 4 grains now but started on 2

Some say that, as Erfa contains less fillers, and no cellulose, it is more effective than for instance Armour and Nature-Throid. However, I find the 2 grain pills (125 mg) rather weak...has anyone else experienced that as well? I have been considering switching to 30 and 60 mg pills but, given the price of Erfa in Belgium, ordering 125 mg pills in 500 ct bottles is much more cost-effective...
