Labour M.P. if elected will fluoride our water across the U.K.

This article was in one of daily newspapers, seems the ministers of this country just don't get it, despite volumes being written about the dangers of fluoride in our water. The minister in question is the Labour Minister Alan Johnson. You couldn't make it up!

It's quite obvious he has done no research reading whatsoever on this matter. It makes you wonder why he is 'HEALTH' Minister.

You answered your own question - those that won't do any research are ideal, as that way big business (of whatever variety) gets its own way. And fluoride turns us into sheep, so that's even better.

that was nearly a year ago so hopefully someone has set the dear man straight... I am going to a party tomorrow to celebrate Hampshire Against Fluoridation's victory, after 6 years of campaigning we finally got a declaration from Public Health England that they will NOT be going ahead with the scheme to poison the residents of Southampton.

An interesting page on the subject of fluoridation, complete with references - but it is old :

Yes humanbean maybe it is old, however the very fact that it was on the agenda to poison our water, chills me to the bone. How would we be if there was no internet and sites like this? The powers that reign over us must hate the internet and the fact that we now know what their evil plans are for all of us. Thank goodness for people power!

Any political party which planned to poison me and my water would never get my vote. Simple as that!

Fluoride in the water causes thyroid problems

wddty.com/fluoride-in-the-w...

Adding fluoride to the public water supply should be stopped, say researchers. Any supposed benefits of preventing tooth decay are more than outweighed by the increased risk of causing thyroid problems, leading to fatigue, depression and weight gain.

High rates of underactive thyroid—or hypothyroidism—are 30 per cent more likely in areas that have been fluoridated, say researchers who have surveyed 98 per cent of GP practices across the UK.

This suggests that around 15,000 people now have thyroid problems simply because their local water supply has been fluoridated, say researchers from the University of Kent. Areas of the West Midlands and the North-East of England—where many local authorities have started fluoridating the water—are especially affected.

Lead researcher Prof Stephen Peckham said: “The difference between the West Midlands, which fluoridates, and Manchester, which doesn’t, was striking. There was nearly double the number of cases (of hypothyroidism) in the West Midlands”.

The researchers compared areas of fluoridation against health records from 7,935 GP practices around the UK. Rates of hypothyroidism were at least 30 per cent more likely in practices with fluoride levels in excess of 0.3mg/l.

Previous studies have shown that fluoride inhibits the body’s iodine levels, which are essential for a healthy thyroid. The thyroid gland regulates the body’s metabolism, and an underactive gland can lead to depression, weight gain, fatigue and aching muscles.

I have lived in the West Midlands for the past 44 years where 100% of the population receive fluoride in our water supplies - started, I understand, in 1964. I was diagnosed with hypothyroidism in 1998 and my daughter in 2003. My sister-in-law was also diagnosed in 2000, plus a few of my friends. We have nearly double the recorded cases of hypothyroidism than Manchester which does not have fluoride added to its water. Why do the 'powers that be' blindly do this to us because some parents do not control their children's eating and teeth cleaning habits. Surely a few bad teeth is preferable to untold, unknown other health problems caused by fluoride. I don't recall anyone being asked if they agreed with the adding of fluoride - but of course they know what's 'best' for us.

Yes thanks Eagles, there is an awful lot in the media at the moment about fluoride in our water. Hopefully people power will stop it.

with regards to the West Midlands, people should be marching in demonstration in their tens of thousands, unfortunately that is not the kind of thing the British seem to do, unless it involves animals...

The good thing cario is thanks to the internet we are better informed, and hopefully can fight against these injustices.

It is only the doctors and health authority that can get fluoride to the water.

I hate to think what the true numbers are for thyroid problems considering that GPs do not diagnose hypothyroidism in a large number of cases due to the tsh test unreliability.

Can't believe an MP could advocate an additive which is known to be harmful to the thyroid gland!

With no research being available to MPs and a presumption that chemicals are safe, that's why

public confidence is lacking.

I am saving up for a water distiller from online company H2o as it is the only method of removing

fluoride and other chemicals. I hope it will be better in removing lead, and arsenic which are

part of the components of fluoride imported from China, and a by product of the manufacture of

aluminium - who coincidentally sponsors the addition of fluoride to the water|!
